[Discussion] Your Ability/Power Origin?

Hello people of NB i have a little question for you all.
If you had to put Magic, Mystical ability's or even superpowers in a story or an origin for a character how would you guys do it?

For Example:
Devil Fruits from One Piece.
Chakra from Naruto
Ki From Dragonball...
Gift from a GOD for example Dragonborn from Skyrim.

If you could make an Origin for a power how will it be? Looking forward to your responses.

Tbvh i like it more when power can be distributed to everyone if they're making themselves worthy of it and not having it limited to something like a bloodline. I kinda liked the concept they used in OP and Magi where anyone can get the power they seek without needing to be born into it. I'd think around those lines and develop a concept i think. I'd also go with a theme of nordic mythology.

Through a virus that permanently affects its vessel's genetic coding through alteration. Those infected would develop supernatural abilities, usage of those abilities would further the altering of their coding, allowing the virus to progress, and spread. The more usage of the power, the greater the risk.

I'd take a devil fruit, especially if I could chose the one I take. Chakra and Ki seem way too complicated to learn how to master.

....maybe like, a teenage girl goes to a party to try and dance with a guy shes had a crush on. they get close during the party but the party runs out of beer, so they go on a beer run where she hopes they will become closer...they see some wrecked car on the side of a lonely backroad and a guy with a suit is limping down the road, bloody and tattered from the accident. they pull over to see if they can help and the limping guy pulls a guy from his jacket and shoots the girls crush driving, then car and the car runs into a tree where the girl knocks out

when she wakes up shes in a weird underground facility place, with other girls where shes told shes been kidnaped and know will work as a *** slave for some powerful gang, the first chance she gets she kills herself in a suicide pact with a few of the other girls who were already planning too before she got there using a weird ritual that they believe will cleanse their souls of what they had to witness being *** slaves and make them pure for "heaven". they all perform the ritual and kill themselves but for some reason the girl is awoken by one of the guards instead of being dead. she finds out shes gotten some kind of dark powers from the witch who created the ritual originally to gain immortality(whose spirit tells her in a vision) and now she has cool powers and extra lives. from there she kills everyone in the facility where she learns how her powers work and leaves...

The dying wishes/words of somebody close to you. Wouldn't just grant 'superpower' like abilities but more abstract and smaller, vague side-effects as well.
