How young are they?

What we can take from manga is that Izuna was just as powerful as MS Madara. And even if we take out all the sharingan feats, we have still seen madara battle an entire shinobi alliance with just fire style, taijutsu, bukijutsu, and genjutsu. So, if we measure izuna by that we can assume that he was a very skilled ninja.

Hiruzen on the other hand was a master of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Bukijutsu, and Genjutsu. And at a young age if he was trained by hashirama and tobirama, im pretty sure they taught him how to avoid sharingan genjutsu or genjutsu in general.

Though I may be a tad baised, im goin to go with hiruzen.

Exactly but both of these guys have listed abilities in the database. Saying the less feats you have the more of a fodder you are is like saying these guys are less important to the story than the ramen guy.

There is no eveidence that izuna could fight toe to toe with Tobirama. And your compairing a old hiruzen to izuna when the OT says young hiruzen. there were multiple claims in the fight against orochimaru that hiruzen was no where near what he was capable of when he was younger. Even orochimaru noted that had he been young the battle would have when differently.

Don't compare the strength levels of a old and young hiruzen because manga tell us that their strength were far apart.

Young Izuna being equal to Madara - who was capable of fighting on par with Hashirama is hype within itself. Certainly better than "knowing of all the jutsu in the village".
