Yeoneung

Yeoneung is a heavily forested, green area characterized by many rivers, streams and waterways surrounded by many small villages and communities. Fishermen live along the area’s small coastline and a few ports make their home there as well. One of Yeoneung’s most known features is a large marble statue of Sai Nobunaga that overlooks the Gulf.

Travelling thru, the duo see a large marble statue off the coast overlooking the large body of water. They would cross this gulf as Boit was an avid swimmer moving swiftly across the water with Vegeta on top standing with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face..

Arriving from Here.

This message marks the beginning of my second (2/3) God Slaying Tool material acquisition mission with the objective as follows:
  • Encounter and defeat local poachers that are attempting to steal the rare material (B-Rank)
Summary: After traveling the distance from Keishi, having rescued a local Forester that told her where to find the rest of the material she needed, Chise made her way into the Yeoneung forests in search of more of the material. Once she arrives and begins her search, however, she is faced with adversaries that she must overcome to reach her goal.

After having transitioned from the region of Keishi into Yeoneung, Chise and Ruth began to realize the distinct difference between the two. While Keishi had its share of forestation and thicker groves than most other lands were familiar with, Yeoneung was exceptional in the very same regard. The sheer density of the forests that surrounded the region was intense; their branching canopies acting as a near perfect umbrella that covered close to every square inch of the earth below, where their roots sprawled out in abundance both above and below. While this served as a considerable habitat for the growth and flourishing of many fauna and other natural species, many of which proved to be considerably rare and fundamentally irreplaceable in many higher quality creations, that very same rarity proved to show opportunity to those that were less than honest in their endeavors..

As Chise and Ruth made their way through the floors of the forest, taking in the incredible stature of the woods, they had their eyes out for a distinct type of tree that was described to them by the Forester they had previously encountered back in the outskirts of Keishi. This tree would be quite old and immense with bark that seemed as tough as iron and required an incredibly high temperature to reach its burning point. It was due to this characteristic that the material was so widely sought after, creating demand that was no doubt most commonly used for warfare oriented purposes, but in some instances, reliably used for civil infrastructure as well. Left and right, Chise continued to look around as the pair seemed to wander for what felt like hours, only stopping for the occasional water break in an effort to maintain hydration throughout their hike across the rigid terrain of various sprawling roots and branches. After so long, Chise would inevitably stop, letting out a heavy huff that was iconic when ones own thoughts began to win over their motivated ambitions as she steadily brought a hand to comb through her fiery bangs. "This is like finding a needle in a haystack.. How is anyone supposed to find a "special tree" in a forest..?" Chise thought aloud, turning her gaze upward toward the vast canopy of branches and leaves, leaving only slight cracks for the occasional seeping beams of sunlight to leak through. Ruth seemed to share her concerns, though moreso in an agreeable manner than to feel his own version of her frustration. While Chise seemed to take a moment for herself, Ruth thought to take advantage of his inherent origins: Putting a nose to the ground, the black canine began to sniff across the ground, in hopes to find something other than the obvious, expected scents one might recognize in a forest. Nuts, weeds, both freshly fallen and long since decaying leaves pact beneath the surface of other such natural debris. After only a few moments of this, the hound's ears would perk as he caught the scent of others like them that had passed through not long ago prior to them. Shifting his attention upward, he turned to meet Chise's gaze, who had already taken notice of his discovery. "A group passed through here not long ago; I'd imagine they aren't far off. They have a rather unpleasant smell.. probably bandits or something alike." After a brief pause to consider her options, Chise nodded in response to Ruth's explanation. Such a simple gesture was enough for Ruth to recognize Chise's desires, resulting in him taking one final inhale of the air and the ground to better account for the direction the scent traveled in before he took off in a rush toward that direction, Chise giving chase close behind.

After a few minutes or running, Ruth had opted to ask what had been lingering on his mind. "I know people like them can't be left alone for very long, but why exactly are we chasing after them? Shouldn't we be focused on finding the materials?" As if anticipating the question, Chise only glanced a moment at Ruth before returning her attention forward to keep her bearings of her surroundings while they ran. "You aren't wrong, but I have a sneaking suspicion that these men are Poachers. There isn't a village or even a highway for quite a ways from here; regular bandits wouldn't have any real rhyme or reason to be out this way.. They must be searching for rare materials; animals, plants, to sell at a gross upcharge in unofficial markets and circles. If it's true that the rare material we're looking for grows in this region, and they are in fact Poachers, they no doubt are looking for the same thing we are, if they haven't found it already.." As soon as Chise finished her explanation, Ruth seemed to lock into the same line of reasoning that Chise had come to as well. It was reasonable deduction, and if nothing else, at least warranted further investigation.

Not long after they had begun their pursuit, Chise and Ruth both found themselves faced with a sudden clearing, where what could only be described as an all too conveniently abandoned cart was arranged neatly toward the center of it. The cart appeared to be full of various belongings, all of which were entirely random and unassociated to the one another with a simple tarp-like fabric drawn over the top of it to try and conceal as much as it could within the cart. Stopping just short of entering the visibility of the open clearing, Chise scanned one direction, then the other, only to not only see no one, but sense no one as well. It was an odd scene, one that screamed in all possible indications of a trap. Yet given the vastness of the forest and the size of its trees, since they had no means to track them individually in any accurate sense, they would have to take their bait in hopes that it would draw the scavengers out. Closing her eyes, Chise slowly bent downward and planted her hands onto the ground, surging a rush of chakra through her palms and toward the clearing, centralizing her focus beneath the cart itself. Despite having done so, nothing seemed to change. No rocks shifted, roots uplifted or winds howled. With no further reason to address the matter, Chise turned her attention to Ruth and nodded toward him, of which he seemed to reflect her meaning quite clearly, moving to submerge himself inside of her shadow, disappearing from visibility almost entirely. Now "alone," Chise slowly shuffled out into the clearing, keeping her senses sharp to her surroundings in an effort to pick up any sign or indication of movement: The breaking of branches, clicking of heels, rustling of shrubs.. Yet there was nothing but an eerie silence, one that left nerves on edge in anticipation of something to change. Finally, Chise had come to a standing right in front of the cart, of which she opted to peer inside, slowly peeling away the tarp that hung loosely overtop of it. Inside, she would find various small-to-medium size cages, half of which were empty, and the other half held captured animals of various shape and size, all under some form of sedation that kept them from rousing. Scattered about were various bundles and packages, all of which seemed to contain loose piles of varying leaves, mushrooms, twigs, seeds and whatever else. "I knew it.." Chise mumbled quietly to herself. If anything served as evidence to support the fact that the ones they pursued were actually Poachers, this was it..

Shortly after Chise had unveiled the contents of the cart, her eyes fixed on a familiar sight: A chunk of the wood she was looking for; the material that Marzan had asked for her to fetch to fulfill her request. Yet before she had the opportunity to even formulate the thought of fetching after it, Chise heard a single crack off in the distance, followed by a weightless upheaval of her body skyward as she was abruptly surrounded by a cross-formed pattern that resembled netting. From one second into the next, Chise went from standing, to feeling weightless, to now feeling completely uncomfortable as her body was forced into a contorted state within what could not easily be identified as a sprung trap. It was an old-school mechanical trap; one that was frequently used to ensnare animals that would pass over them and leave them hanging for a hunter to gather and "handle" for a fresher catch.. In a huff, Chise fumbled about within the trap to try and loosen her weighted position hanging over the top of her arms, working to pull them out from their contorted state beneath her to at least hold naturally in front of her. Shortly after she began shifting, nearly the entire forest seemed to begin shifting as a larger than anticipated gathering of individuals began to emerge from various nooks and crannies within the forest, heading toward the cart in a surrounding of it. They all were less than pleasant-looking people; each carrying weapons and sporting clothing that was less than flattering in any definition of the word. They each seemed to chuckle or laugh to one another at the scene in front of them, some nudging each other and others hooting and hollering at Chise's suspended state. One man stepped forward ahead of the rest, carrying a considerably large, less-than-nicely maintained sword across his back, waiting to be drawn. He sported many typical tropes of men in his profession; wearing an eyepatch over one eye with medium-length spiky, greasy hair and scruff across his face and chin. The man snickered as he stared up at Chise, looking her up and down before smacking his lips at her. "Here we was out here lookin' for a white doe, but instead we find ourselves a red hare. Quite the rare commodity, I reckon you'd fetch a fine price.." As the man spoke, the rest of his party seemed to echo in his laughter, all prying upon Chise's form in less than pleasant mannerisms..

Chise felt her heart begin beating rapidly, feeling stuck in her throat and pounding at her ear drums. She had suffered similar situations like this in her past; the sensation of helplessness and being at the disposal of complete strangers.. It frightened her. While these men were ordinary individuals, likely not capable of techniques like that of a shinobi, they were still considerable threats, given their sheer numbers. With a hard swallow, Chise peered down toward the earth, where she could see her shadow seemingly vibrating slowly in place. Her brows knitted together as she then stared at the larger man that had approached. "l-Let me go, immediately.. i-I am from Tsumigakure, you don't want to pick a fight--" The man cackled wildly as she spoke, cutting her off abruptly with his bellowing laughter. "Ya don't say? A little village dolt no less! Shit, ransoms are a fine offerin'; they can be a better payday than selling you off as-is to the highest bidder. Emotions and all that, they tend to carry heavy purses.." The man and his crew continued their bantering amongst themselves, only for Chise to squirm, her heart beating faster than before, feeling as thought it were threatening to burst from her chest. Chise turned her gaze back to her shadow again, of which is seemed to be vibrating much quicker than before. She quickly turned her gaze back to the men. "p-Please.. you need to let me go.. i-I can't.. guarantee anything i-if you don't!" Chise's pleas fell on deaf ears as they all seemed content in relishing in their victorious hunt; eager to know just how much she would be worth to the right buyer. Tightly Chise's teeth gritted together in a sharp, tight pull of her jaw. Slowly, she lifted her hands over her ears as she struggled to block out the murmuring voices that began to radiate in violent gnawing at her thoughts..

"Please, make it stop.." As if on cue, Chise's shadow stopped vibrating. Instead, it steadily began to mold and stand from the ground, bubbling in an upward formation as it began to shape into something.. monstrous. It was as

if her very shadow had begun to pull Chise's chakra away from her, causing her to surge in a burst of chakra in reckless abandon that whipped about her like a violent gale of wind. Pulling from the affinities that it needed, a technique was used as if by Chise's sheer unconscious will, causing a certain electricity to fill the air that left an eerie unease to creep across the very bones of those in the area. A giant, skull-like form had emerged, along with one, then two large appendages with vicious black claws arranged to their hands; jet-black feather like features riddling up and down the body of the newborn entity. Vine-like tendrils of blackness began to whip about around the "creature", ash-like particles rippling off of it's body as it reared its newfound form, exhaling what could only be described as steam or smoke before bellowing a ferocious howl outward, rustling the very forest for leagues. In an instant, the black vines that were tethered to the creature began to whip about in a violent flurry of strikes. One made instantaneous contact with the large man that stood closest to Chise, and in the moment it made contact, the Man's body had immediately begun to.. fall apart, dissolving into a cloud of electrically charged ash before bursting outwardly, then funneling inwardly toward the large beast by traveling the distance of the vine that had struck the man originally, as if assimilating within it. This very same event transpired several more times as the tendrils continued to reach out from the beast and extend as necessary to come into contact to each of the closest Poachers that surrounded the area, ionizing several others as it continued to produce a growing assimilation to the beast. As soon as the party of brigands all began to try and flee, a second, fierce howl came from the beast's direction, but instead this time came from a jet-black canine that had reemerged from Chise's shadow much like how the beast had done as well. Ruth had let out a surge of earthen chakra, of which resulted in a gaping opening to split across the sky, resulting in a sudden sludge-like mud to begin pouring from it. The sludge began to fall upon the men in almost perfect alignment to their own positions, showing itself to be incredibly dense and unexpectedly heavy, as if they were each being weighed down by a boulder that dwarfed them completely. While it not only served as an immobilizing weight, making it impossible for them to move as they originally intended to do, they now found themselves steadily sinking into the ground, as if caught in a floor of deep mud that originally was no clear to them before such weight was placed upon them, forcing them to sink into it. Upon further investigation, one could identify traces of water chakra infused within the ground, of which served as a result of a technique Chise had used prior to entering the clearing, of which created sources of water beneath the earth's surface. Naturally, this technique was commonly used as a means to produce an unsuspecting water source to the advantage of the user, yet given the circumstances, Chise wasn't given the opportunity to fully take advantage before her psychological traumas had gotten the better of her. Now, instead, the subterranean lake beneath the feet of all those present had now become a mass sinkhole. Each of the Poachers that could still cry out in agony would, beckoning for mercy or cursing one God or another for their fate. Others were completely submerged in the sludge that fell from the sky, coating their heads and faces and leaving them as little more than squirming husks to steadily sink further into the surface of the earth, until they were completely submerged roughly six feet beneath the surface, the muddy ground reforming over top of them after they had long since sunk beneath it, leaving little to no trace that they had ever been there to begin with...

Type: Offensive, Defensive, Supplementary
Rank: D - S
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 10 - 40
Damage Points: 20 - 80
Description: Monarchs of the Abyss encompasses the formation of familiars composed of ionized ash. Through the generation of one's chakra into the surrounding terrain or from their body or through physical contact with the object, the user is capable of sculpting the ash. This allows for partially sentient familiars to be created, ranging from humanoids, down to demonic like creatures one would expect out of a nightmare. These creatures are compact in composition, capable of easily slicing through material should they desire it with their body parts, tearing them with talons etc. The creatures are capable of performing the Dark Vacuity Element without the need of hand seals up to its rank. Thus an S rank familiar is capable of using S ranks and below at the cost of a move slot.. Much like it's sister technique "Void of Creation" certain applications apply here.

As outlined in the element however, should the ash come into contact with solid material/water etc, the ionized ash will cause it to collapse upon itself. Should the ash be stronger – it’s capable of ionizing the target before assimilating it within itself and returning back into its compact form, although a bit weaker. The user can control the implosion not to trigger, remaining inert if he or she chooses too. During a process of implosion there’s two types of interactions that occur under certain circumstances; A) when this jutsu physically interacts with a solid object, the ionizing of the targeted object of aim happens in a process of it being ionized (short-range subjects will be pulled into the wind drafts created by this implosion) before it’s broken down into energy becoming ionized ash altogether, B) when this jutsu interactions with a non-solid element, unlike regular interactions this will cause ionized particles fumes which are able to change the area’s illumination to the user’s choice (perceivable to the human eye), upon overcoming the interaction as it assimilated it within itself. If this jutsu was countered/ if that interaction results in this jutsu becoming overwhelmed, segments of ionized ash will succumb and remain mundane in the area of effect and with no inherit chakra.

Note: This technique needs one handseal to form the B rank version, two for the A rank and three for the S ranks. In the case of the S ranks being used, the user is unable to use Dark Vacuity Release techniques A rank and above for the same and next turn, while A rank use causes them from using above S rank for the same amount of time. A rank may be used thrice per battle, while the S ranks twice per battle with each use having a cool down of two turns. Fumes utilized to creating an area illumination are hazards to the opponent, if they so much so in inhale them, it would result in -10 dmg to their health per turn, for each turn they're inhaling them. The user may create multiple constructs, however the power is divided evenly among them based on the rank used. Familiars from D to B needs a sustained cost of -5 per turn, A and S require - 10. Each familiar lasts three turn regardless of rank

Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A
Description: Using his own chakra the user can, unbeknownst to his opponent, create a single or multiple water sources within the earth. The water sources can vary in size, depending on the need of the user. The user can create up to 3 separate sources but their size altogether may not exceed the size of a human sized pond. They don't form too deep in the ground, but about a meter or two beneath the surface. They can be used only as a source for other water techniques.

Note: Usable only thrice per battle
Note: Courtesy of McRazor

Type: Offensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user does 2 handseals (Ram → Snake) and creates an opening within the sky, which drips down onto the opponent a large amount of sticky mud (in all similar to that of Swamp of the Underworld Technique), covering them. The mud is very heavy and thick as well as adhesive, making it impossible to move if caught and easily crushing an enemy underneath. It’s normally followed up by Lightning release: sixteen pillar bind to create a giant oven around the opponent and then using Fire release: Firing biscuit technique to ignite the oven, hardening the mud and immobilizing the enemy target.

A few silent minutes went by after the massacre had transpired. Chise remained positioned in the overhanging net with her eyes shut firmly tight and her palms pressed roughly against her ears, attempting to block out all possible senses, fighting rigorously to overcome the voices that reverberated in her head. They were not the voices of the men who had just captured her moments ago, but instead, voices of similar men from her past. A memory -a reflection- of her past that had reemerged the moment she found herself in a similar situation, of which only served to debilitate her, despite it being a problem she could have otherwise easily resolved, were she to have kept her composure. Instead, she sat in the darkness of her own mind, centered within a small, sourceless spotlight that only seemed to grow dimmer with every passing moment, fending off the vicious, monstrous shadowy fiends that seemed so eager to claw closer and closer to her quivering conscience, she felt a sudden warmth envelop her. A long tail-like appendage slowly began to wrap around her as a familiar being stepped forward beside her. Ruth peered silently out toward the darkness of Chise's inner mind, his red eyes piercing through the shadows there which seemingly gave them pause. Chise's eyes slowly opened as she peered up to look upon Ruth, tears threatening to pour from her eyes as she struggled to find a moment to breath through what could only be identified as a panic attack. The Grim nodded, slowly shuffling closer to Chise as he rested his furry head against Chise's, causing the space enveloped in light to suddenly bloom into a larger area, opening up a much wider space for her to move -or think- freely. Peering past the scene of her mind, Chise once again opened her eyes to the real world as well, where she seemed to no longer be trapped within a net, but now was instead being slowly guided down by being wrapped within Ruth's tail. Once she was upon the ground, Ruth retracted his trusty appendage and approached her, sitting beside her. Chise looked around, hesitantly, at the clearing that they were still within, the cart of goods still lingering behind them, untouched. The beast that had been summoned before was nowhere to be seen either, likely having returned to its base form that it was made out of and dispersing completely afterward. While she was more or less blocked off from everything as the events unfolded, deep in her gut, Chise knew exactly what had happened, yet she didn't want to give it another thought.

Slowly, Chise stood to her feet and pivoted around to face the cart. She quickly threw off the tarp, began to remove the locks of each of the cages that housed animals within them, leaving them with an open opportunity to get away once the anesthetic would wear off eventually, then Chise would reach for the wood material that matched the description of what she needed to gather. Now having two-thirds of the material in her possession, Chise looked to Ruth. ".. Let's go and get this over with.. I'm getting tired of this." Chise stated rather sharply, of which only resulted in a silent nod of affirmation from Ruth. Once again, the pair both began to set out on foot, eager to leave behind the past hour and find the trees they had come to look for to gather the last bit of the material they needed.

This message marks the beginning of my third (3/3) God Slaying Tool material acquisition mission with the objective as follows:
  • Finally discover the natural growth of the required material and harvest it manually (B-Rank)
Summary: Having overcome a less than pleasant situation only hours prior, Chise and Ruth had continued trudging on in an effort to further their search for the final portion of material they needed for Marzan's work to begin. While discovery of its natural location was a task in and of itself, the collecting of it would prove to be a far more difficult matter than most these days realized, requiring of them what seemed grossly underappreciated in the ninja world: Manual labor...

Hours seemed to pass after the pair had set out on their journey from Tobusekai, on their mission to acquire the material that Marzan had asked of them. In a thoughtful glance, Ruth would turn his attention skyward, toward the canopy of trees and see that the already muffled light from the sun above was beginning to dim, resulting in only darker conditions that were already dampened due to the tree's coverage of the forest's floor. The day was setting, late afternoon and early evening was coming and was leaving little hope for accomplishing the task they were set to within the same timeframe. The previous encounter of the poachers in the clearing had soaked up a considerable amount of their already finite time, and it did little for the morale the party of two had..

With a watchful gaze, Ruth looked upon Chise for some time. While she seemed fully aware of her surroundings for the most part, showing careful attentiveness for each step she took and being wary of obstacles, while simultaneously reflecting the impression of watching for signs of the material they were looking for, yet something was off.. She continued to reflect a paleness that belied a healthy demeanor, her typically vibrant green eyes shimmering with life and vitality was now dull and hidden behind dark, heavy lines that showed a touch of exhaustion beyond simple lack of sleep. While Ruth shared a connection with Chise that was far beyond what anyone else had with her all throughout her life, there were some things that even he struggled to fully comprehend. He could practically relive the memories of her past as if he were watching the images like a film through her own eyes as she lived them; feel every emotion that she had and reflect on them differently than her. The trauma she struggled with was sadly not uncommon in this world, where death and tragedy were commonplace for nearly everyone in it, yet for someone as young as her.. Ruth couldn't help but feel as though there was something special to Chise, to be able to continue reflecting on life in any degree of positivity despite her dispositions was an incredible thing. Yet for her to drag such weight around regularly would inevitably catch up to her. While Ruth had a special way of helping her deal with such things, their spiritual tether allowing for him to sooth both her heart and mind in times of peril, there was little he could do for the lingering consequences of such things like she struggled with now. At best, for the moment, it seemed that finding the final piece of their required material would at least be a step in the right direction. With luck, such accomplishment might serve to improve Chise's mood, Ruth thought.

As minutes ticked, passing into one hour after the other, Chise and Ruth continued to reflect their motivations in constant, persistent searching, looking for anything that would give them an indication that they were looking in the right places; heading in the right directions. Suddenly, Ruth had a realization, turning his gaze upon Chise once again before trotting up to her, nudging his nose lightly against her hand to grab her attention. Chise peered down toward him, stopping the moment he did. "Hm..?" Ruth nodded toward her bag, where his idea seemed to spawn from. "
Would you mind pulling out both pieces of the wood we're looking for and hold them down to me?" Chise found herself curious, uncertain of what he had in mind, but while she could ask questions for clarity on his train of thought, Chise knew she could trust Ruth one way or the other, so it made no difference whether or not she understood right away. Shrugging the bag off of her shoulders, Chise steadily moved to open it after having slung it around in front of her, digging into the interior and pulling from it a cloth wrapped and bound. Resting it in her hands, she slowly unwrapped it, revealing the two sizeable pieces of the wooden material they were after. Holding it down in front of Ruth as he asked, she waited patiently to see what he had in mind. Wasting no time, Ruth moved closer to the material, pressing his nose close to it as he took in a handful of sniffs of the wood. While it certainly had an earthy scent to it, the material was quite unique, consistent with its rare quality, and that of course went doubly for its smell, as Ruth now discovered. It was nearly floral, which likely came from the reddish pigmentation that the wood contained, though with rustic undertones that likely hinted at a mineral within it that served to give it it's strong, metal-like durability unlike most wood. With a slight wiggle of his snout after retracting from the wood, Ruth turned his nose to the air, then the ground until he finally caught a whiff of more of the same scent, where he wasted no time in beginning to lurk after it slowly but surely, keeping his nose engaged in the effort to ensure he remained on the trail. Almost immediately coming to the realization of what Ruth's idea had been, Chise perked up, quickly tucking the wood back into her bag and pulling it over her shoulders once more before she started following close behind the canine.

It wasn't long after Ruth had picked up on the scent that he lead them well off the natural path that had been carved through the forest by various times traveled through; leading them deeper and deeper into the wilder portion of the woods. More frequently they began to witness various wildlife, crossing paths with many familiar species that seemed replicates of the various ones that had been captured by the poachers previously that they had set free, which served as a telling sign that they were going in the right direction. After a few more minutes, Ruth's nose had lead them to the base of a tree, where the scent began aggressively potent, causing him to quickly retract his snout, giving a slight huff before investigating where they had stopped. Slowly they both began to look up.. then up.. and up some more, watching as the tree in front of them continued to sprout further and further into the sky, piercing well past the canopy of the other tree branches overhead. Despite the height of the tree, its overall width was rather normal, although it begged the curiosity of how such a tall tree could possibly maintain its straight-standing posture under the brunt of its own upper weight. It was a tree tinged in red; leaves thin as paper to the point of being nearly see-through, while its bark appeared to form like scales up and down the length of the tree, gradually thinning out into a flatter surface the further up it went. After staring on in awe for a time, Chise had finally tightened her jaw in resolve, she knew what needed to be done and hadn't a moment to waste further. "I'm gonna climb up and get what we need, you stay here and keep watch for anything suspicious, Ruth." Chise suggested. Ruth looked upon her for a moment in uncertainty before he eventually nodded in agreeance, although relenting all the same. "Fine, but please be careful. You don't exactly have a good history with high places.." Chise twitched in place at having been called out in such a way by the canine, rubbing the back of her head awkwardly before she nodded reassuringly all the same. Clapping her hands, her earth and water chakras began to subsequently mold at the same time, merging together as they were ushered outward at her command and began to manifest as thick trunks of wood that would sprout from the earth, each gradually taller than the last as it lead into a spiraling rotation around the base of the tree, climbing further and further up like a stairway.

Once Chise had reached the pinnacle of where the wood technique aimed to take her, she stood nearly halfway up the visible length of the tree, which amounted to being only near halfway to the canopy. With a soft sigh from the moderate physical effort it took for her to continuous climb up even this far, she caught her breath and look intently upon the bark in front of her. Chances were good that traditional means of harvesting this wood wouldn't take her very far, and of course she even lacked something as basic as a weighted axe or saw that might serve the intended purpose, so perhaps a more "ninja-like" approach was in order? Plucking from her side a single kunai, Chise held it firmly within her grasp as she began to harness lightning chakra into the blade. Given the natural weakness that wood techniques had to lightning-based techniques, she figured that, surely, it would give her enough of an edge to grant her the advantage against the wood in this case as well. The chakra began to sharpen itself along the edges of her blade, honing into a repetition of electric vibrations. Reeling the blade back, Chise

quickly swung it in a slashing motion toward the tree. From one moment into the next, Chise's eyes had been blurred by a sudden flash of light, a slight tingling sensation rolling throughout her body before suddenly feeling light as a feather, then the sensation of wind passing her as she realized she was now falling the height of the tree toward the ground. "a-Aaah!" Chise cried out as she continued to plummet, her arms flailing about at her sides as she struggled to come up with a solution fast enough. Instead of meeting the ground in a painful thud, Chise felt a soft warmth envelop her, coiling firmly around her waist and tucking around her shoulders as well, nearly like a harness. Opening her eyes once again, she saw the black fur of Ruth's tail wrapped around her form, of which had extended from the diligent Grim and carefully began to lower her to the ground, settling Chise upon her feet. Chise let out a soft laughter as Ruth stared at her in frustration. "I know I told you to be careful.." Chise let out a defeated sigh as she lowered her head toward him. "I know, I know.. I'm not sure what went wrong, to be honest." Ruth looked up the length of the tree toward where Chise had been standing, eyeing the kunai that Chise had used that was neatly planted into the side of the tree, its sharp edge indented into the bark. "Your lightning technique did help you cut into the wood, but because the strike lacked proper weight and momentum to carry behind the strike, the hardness of the wood absorbed any striking power you had given and rebounded the lightning back against you. It needs a little more strength behind the strike to work." Chise looked up the tree as well as she listened to Ruth's explanation. Her brows knitted together in frustration as she realized the task at hand was far more complicated than she had given it credit. After all, she had just put all of her strength behind that strike, so what other options did she have..?

Ruth looked upon Chise, taking in her disheartened expression as he seemed to spark with an idea a few moments later. Steadily he approached the tree's base and began to hop up one wooden pillar a time, looking down toward Chise. "Come on. I have an idea." Ruth ushered her along. Chise looked on curiously before she began to climb the tree with him as well, moving the rest of the way back toward the top once again. Once there, Ruth nudged his nose toward the kunai. "Pull it out and set it down here, please." Chise blinked as she merely complied, approaching the kunai and gripping hold of it's handle, giving it a few stiff pulls, wiggles and yanks before it finally broke free, causing her to fumble a step or two backward before catching her footing once again. Turning, she moved to set the kunai in front of Ruth as he had asked, where he then moved to plant his paw against the kunai, obviously careful not to thoughtlessly push against the bladed edge. In that same instant, he steadily began to release his earthen chakra into the kunai, causing it to mold within the blade before he removed his paw, leaving it just the same as it was before with nothing seeming to have changed about it. "Alright, now pick it up." Chise stared a moment before she moved to plucked the kunai up. "w-Wooh..!" The instant she attempted to pick it up, she felt her arm pull back against her. She anticipated picking up the weight of a kunai, but instead, it felt as though she were trying to pick up an entire bag of rocks. Blinking in bewilderment, Chise looked back upon the kunai, where she held the handle firmly, gave it a couple more tugs and found that it required all of her focused strength to lift it from the ground and hold it in both hands. With a twitchy brow, she stared at it in confusion. "u-Uhm.. w-What did you do to this thing? i-I can barely lift it.." Ruth nodded, almost proud of himself to have caught Chise off guard in such a way before he decided to explain. "I used the Kajūgan technique; it amplifies the weight of a physical object ten-fold. Normally that wouldn't make it so much heavier, but given that the volume of the item hasn't changed, the concentration of weight has resulted in a condensed weight that layered over itself, scaling exponentially, rather than statically. Now if you apply your lightning technique to it again, it should have the weight behind it that it lacked before to cut the wood properly." All the while that Ruth explained how he went about increasing the weight of the kunai, Chise looked upon the small indent she had left before upon the tree's scale-like bark as his plan steadily began to make more and more sense to her. With a nod of affirmation to what he had recommended, Chise harnessed her lightning chakra once again into the blade, mimicking the exact same effect as before. With a deep inhale, she steadily began to heave her arms back and forth, using the momentum of her swings before to assist in her final effort to swing the blade in a wide arch against the tree, aiming roughly near the same cut line she had left previously. This time, instead of having her strike thrown back against her as it had done previously, the blade cut nearly like butter, at least for the first few inches of the tree, cleaving a sizeable chunk of the bark, breaking it loose from the tree and dropping to their feet before what momentum Chise could manage into the swing had come to a stop, leaving the kunai once again indented firmly into the tree, albeit deeper than before.

With a heavy sigh and a slow rub of her forehead with her palm, Chise looked down upon the chunk of the material they had needed. The third and final piece that was asked of them by Marzan in order for the smith to forge the item they had requested of him. Crouching down, Chise pulled the other two pieces out from her pack and set them down, scooping the third piece into the same grouping, tying them together in the cloth that bound them and returned it to her bag. Turning to look at Ruth, a renewed resolve had formed over her features as she smiled, the vibrancy in her eyes having returned once more. "Alright.. lets hurry back and get this done, yeah?" She hummed confidently. Ruth's own features seemed to soften as he recognized that she seemed to -at least for the moment- forget the prior unpleasantness in favor of the victory of the moment. He nodded toward her suggestion in agreeance as they both made their way down from the tree, where Chise used her chakra to once again return the pillars of wood back into the ground, leaving the tree as it was before and leaving it behind to grow as naturally as it had done for however long before them, yet it now had a kunai lodged into its structure, serving as a reminder that a young ninja was there, once upon a time.

Type: Supplementary/Offensive/Defensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Description: Creates small wood pillars or trees to trap, fight, or defend with. These can be created from the users own body or from the ground.

Type: Supplementary
Rank: B
Range: Short
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A (+40 to Kenjutsu/sword-related attacks)
Description: The user channels their lightning chakra into a blade, increasing its vibrating frequency and giving it more cutting power than standard wind techniques.

Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: A
Range: Short
Chakra: 30
Damage: N/A ( +20 if used to add damage)
Description: The user will perform the Snake handseal and touch a given target (he needs to use his hands in most cases but can release the technique through his whole body if needed) for a small time frame. Upon doing so, he'll use the earth chakra to increase the weight of the target drastically. The technique can increase the targets weight up to 10 times. One interesting side effect of the technique is that when its used on wood based techniques (such as Zetsu's spore clones or normal wood), the infusion of large amounts of earth chakra into it will actually petrify the target in addition to increasing its weight. A similar effect can be achieved in other earthen materials such as mud. The user can also add weight to a given attack (if feasible) to increase both momentum and impact force, effectively adding damage to it.
Note: The weight change lasts 2 turns or until countered.
