You know I thought about it. Konoha obviously knew they had a wood style user in the leaf despite the fact that it was Orochimaru's doing.

Hashirama was the most powerful shinobi because of his unique KG Mokuton. (I realize he was also powerful because of his kenjutsus, medical skills, various scrolls and techniques like Bringer of Darkness but without his Wood Style he would not be the legend he was)

It

-Allowed him control over several tailed beasts in his time
-Created all of Konoha
-Was what allowed him to defeat Madara
-Along with powerful ninjutsu it also carried strong genjutsus (Flower world tree)

My point is Yamato is the level he is because of his own effort, training, and skill.

Do you guys think if he was trained by the leaf higher ups (Hiruzen, Minato, Jiraiya etc) He could have been a Ninja on a whole nother level and be close to, as, or more powerful then Hashirama and would have made a good candidate for Hokage?

not as powerful as the 1st but he can be an akatsuki level if he wanted and not slack off

No.... Just no

Senju bros trained Hiruzen, that's why he was so strong.

Hiruzen had 3 students and guess what? They were the 3 Sannin.

1 Sannin Had a pupil (Minato) that became 4th Hokage and was the yellow flash

Minato was Kakashi's sensei and Look how he turned out

Kakashi was Naruto's sensei and he single handedly changed the way the 4th war was going.

My point was IF Yamato was trained by one of the higher ups would he have been more powerful?

Damn is anyone here not in a middle school reading level?

Yamato isn't as powerful as Hashirama. So not really.

if he were vigorously trained by leaf higher ups then he would be kage material but not stronger than hashirama.

He is an anbu member, so he's at least on kakashi's level when he was an anbu, like when the kyuubi attacked.

yamato is skilled but i think thats as far as his body allows.

he isn't naturally compatible with mokuton like hashirama was

like jiraiya couldn't become a perfect sage even after training while naruto accomplished it cause of being uzumaki and having naturally large chakra reserves

I say yes. He would make a good candidate for a Hokage. Although if you are comparing him to others then he may not measure up quite well but he would do very well.

Thats hard to argue against if it all indeed fell on the person that trained them. But you gotta recognize that those students were already awesome in their own ways. They just had great teachers to guide them.

Well it started with that Shane kid. But discussing with that troll made me realize Yamato's quite underrated.

Access to the same KG as the first doesn't strike me as enough to be Hokage. I do think that after Kakashi, he'd be next in line though.

As for being trained by J-man though, he didn't really teach all that much that wasn't already a specialty of his own (so far that we've seen).

hmmm that's an interesting thought, But look at it from this POV even if the leaf higher up's were able to train him. How would they? none of them have the wood style theirselves wouldn't be a little difficult to train him?

I'm all up for the idea, he's got more patience than Tsunade, and I think has done the most work in rebuilding the village than anyone haha because of his Mokutun. He would also be good in the use of protecting the city's Jinchuruuki with his powers. Not quite as powerful as he could be - but a high possibility of succeeding or at least being a candidate.

Yea there's a chance he would've been kage level with the proper training, but wasn't he in anbu then he gets owned by pre Ms sasuke.
