I think he's immune because Obito is immune, and essentially they're Obito's eyes, so they are also connected. Whatever condition Obito is in, whether that be blind or immune, will also reflect on Kakashi.

It might be because he doesn't spam it like Sasuke spams his. I mean Itachi had his MS before the massacre and he was like what 13? But he wasn't 'blind' until he fought Sasuke when he was like 21. That's 8 years. Sasuke just spammed his MS like there was no tomorrow and went blind within weeks.
