Through the mental anguish, I manage to gather chakra and release ti all over my body to create a barrier of chakra around me. The barrier is weak at first, but as the pain quells I can mix my chakra with a higher efficiency, which creates a stronger barrier.

Yamato begins to channel yang chakra throughout his body. Since yang chakra is connected with fire, Yamato begins to focus on warming his body to counteract the cold water.

Now get the difference, in the past you were manipulating chakra now you are manipulating energies, over here chakra is a collection of energies and energy is a single type. And we are aware chakra differs with everyone from their ratio of energies and the component energies they are made up of (Sage Chakra is made up of Spiritual, Physical and natural energy from instance). Any outside influence on your chakra that is able to merge with your physical and spiritual energies develops a new "type" of chakra. And all chakra types have "natures" which are our elements. So the reason for this quick revision was that for training purposes we will use a term Ki which is your inner energy. I'll explain the concept of Ki among us soonish, there was something Zenryoku and I added.

For now, manipulate either your physical or spiritual energy and just just fire a blast of Ki

I'm somewhat familiar with the concept of ki. When I trained in kung fu, my sifus were two shoalin warrior monks who practiced Qi Gong, which is the practice of gathering and balancing Qi (intrinsic life energy).

I begin to breathe slowly and rythmicly. with each deep breath I gather more and more physical energy (the energy from within each of my cells) until I feel that I have a vast concentration of it. I then gather it into my hand through a series os sweeping hand motions which simulate me pushing it down my arm and I then close my eyes and attempt to release the energy.

With my eyes still closed and breathing heavily I await my sensei's verdict

Yamato grabs a peice of chakra paper and awaits instructions.

Yamato rubs his hands together as his excitment grows. He knows that he finally getting into the good stuff.

Remembering back to his training, Yamato remembers that yin chakra is related to fire and Yang chakra is related to water. In order to cultivate chakra a ninja would normally gather both yin and yang in various quantities and mix them to produce a desired result. Yamatos plan for this first attempt is to gather both yin and yang, but not mix them. He intends to redirect both of those energies towards his arms instead.

Yamato holds a peice of paper in each hand, close his eyes and visualizes the chakra coursing through his body. He gathers yin energy from his mind and directs it to his left hand, while he takes yang energy from his torso and sends it to his right hand. He concentrates hard and after a few moments pass...

The chakra paper in Yamato's left hand burns to ash while the chakra paper in his right hand becomes water logged.

With the instruction from his sensei, Xylon, Yamato continues with his training by attempting to materialize fire chakra in his left hand and water in his right.

Before the attempt, Yamato remembers Naruto's wind training and creates as many shadow clones as he can muster while still leaving himself with an acceptable level of chakra. Two shadow clones appears and all 3 Yamato's get to work.

A Full day passes as Yamato and his brothers gradually come closer and closer to materialising fire in one hand and flames in the other. Work out and exhausted, Yamato lies down and releases his two clones to gather all the knowledge they have accumulated. After recovering from the mental exhaustion, Yamato channels fire chakra to his left hand and water to his right. A small flame sits above his left palm while a grapefruit sized orb of water floats above his right palm.
