Well they called 1st Class a "prequel" but it was a reboot. I mean Emma Frost was in 1st class as an adult but in Wolverine which is later in the time line she is a teenager. & as stated X was not in a wheelchair & had no hair but in 1st class he had hair while he was in the wheelchair. Unless they don't count Wolverine as apart of the movie line 1st Class was a reboot.

It's not a mistake, It's kind of a reboot. It takes place before all X-Men movies, like a prequel, but not really a "prequel" to THOSE X-Men films (it's a start fresh). The universe has changed, so same actors (Hugh Jackman) can be in, and personally I don't think there can be a better actor for Wolverine. I heard that there will be a sequel to XM First Class, so a sequel to a "prequel" making it an interquel? Nope the other X-Mens are scrap, they starting all over. Besides even the XM origins Wolverine is starting over, I heard there's gonna be another movie, is that another reboot? or a sequel to a prequel?

Okayokay, enough with the link wars. We've just proven that's not going to settle anything >.<
______________________________________________

Definition of a "prequel" - a literary, dramatic, or filmic work that prefigures a later work, as by portraying the same characters at a younger age.
examples: the 2nd Star Wars Trilogy, Hannibal Rising, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Caprica

Definition of a "remake" - Movies. to film again, as a picture or screenplay.
examples: The Incredible Hulk, The Punisher, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, King Kong

Definitions from dictionary.com

""First Class" chronicles the beginning of the X-Men saga, before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto and when they were discovering their powers for the first time. The two men worked with other mutants (some familiar, some new) to stop a global threat. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men."

By definition it sounds like a prequel to me

Sounds like a prequel, but is actually a reboot... I think we should have a vote lol
Well that's what I've been trying to say.

A reboot is remaking the story from scratch.
-"The Incredible Hulk" starring Edward Norton was a remake of "The Hulk" staring Eric Bana
-"The Punisher" starring Ray Stevenson was a remake of "The Punisher" starring Thomas Jane and John Travolta
Neither of these were continuations or flashbacks to the prior movies in any way. They were fresh new stories

A prequel is an adding onto a story by exploring the past
-Episodes 1-3 of the Star Wars Sage were prequel films to episodes 4-5
This delved back into the past and built up to the latter Star Wars films

Yeah I get you, It's a reboot starting right from the beginning so it seems like a prequel. Besides, the film companies work on these films for a very long time about a year more or less, I doubt they'll make a silly obvious mistake like the Charles thing.

Yeah I get what you mean.

But the thing is, even if they planned to have Charles' legs get disabled in First Class it's not like they can go back in time and correct X-Men 3. Know what I mean?

I mean, they didn't plan First Class when they had Charles walking in X-Men 3, so you can't really use that solely to label it as a reboot
