Fanboys are downright annoying. Some of the absolute worst fanboys, are those who take sides on entrainment platforms, specifically home consoles. The raging debate over which console, Xbox 360 or Ps3 has been going on since their release in 06, however with Microsoft planning to reveal their next gen console, the Xbox 720, at E3 this year the question must be asked: Will this console shed some light on the raging fanboy war?
It has been said recently that the Xbox 720 will be 6 times as powerful as the current Xbox 360, will feature 1080p HD capability, as well as 3D formatting (the details on the 3D techs are unclear at the moment, as it could be limited to games, or Xbox live content as well, such as movies/television shows)
Currently, the majority of the Xbox 360 vs Ps3 fanboys have typically the same arguments over which console they believe is the better of the two. Ps3 fans typically say that their console is superior due to free online access, superior HD graphics/processor, and blue ray capabilities. Xbox users have countered this by claiming that the content on Xbox live is better than the free content on the PSN ("you get what you pay for" they say), and that the Xbox has far better titles, and a wider variety of titles available, such as Halo, Gears of War, and COD. (While COD is available for both consoles, Xbox users typically use it as a reason to say that the Ps3 doesnt have many successful exclusives). To add insult to injury, most of the newer models of the Ps3's are not backwards compatible, unlike the 360's.
However, the Xbox 720 it seams will provide all the capabilities (minus blue ray) that the Ps3 does, with full HD graphics, and an extremely high processor, in addition to the variety of titles already available for the Xbox consoles.
So, assuming the 720 delivers what it is said to deliver, will this at the very least cool the flames between the two factions of gamers? Will this console stand out and remind people that gaming is an entertainment source and not a fight over companies? Or will Sony counter all this with their Ps4, expected to hit shelves one year after the 720?
In my personal opinion, im not sure how Sony can counter the 720, if it stays true to the rumors, seeing how if they were to attempt to make it any more powerful than the 720 it would both be VERY costly and would require an immense amount of power, at the most I think Sony can only hope to match the 720's tech specs. But what are your opinions on this?
