I think the Nue conspiracy is what led him to gain access and pinpoint Kaguya's dimension. The Rinnegan might as well granted the ability as default. But he needed the info about the Nue still.

BONUS: I like the hierarchical development for the Ootsutsuki clan. Seems that dimension travel is a common trait with those with the Rinnegan. But Kinshiki didn't have Rinnegan right? How the hell does he do that?

Even Ikemoto's work isn't 100% canon if you ask me!

makes sense since both Momo and him travel to other dimensions to eat chakra fruit, plus that warping animation is just a warping animation not Kamui, they used it on the NUE as well

Kishi works on the anime unlike the manga, he even officially wrote those two hyuga episodes that debuted Toneri in the boruto anime
