The Pein fight is my 2nd favourite fight in the series, I actually liked the animation design. My favourite is Lee vs Gaara.

hey guy, go and watch that episode.....he made the clones in sage mode and as he was doing it, his clones hands were directed towards him...He did it with his clones.

Giggedy, I bet he did.

OT: Nope, he used the clones in the anime too. Naruto could use the rasengan without a clone but it is more controlled with clones as was shown when he used it to hit Kabuto.

He can make rasengans without clones, the only reason why he uses them is to assist him with actually using the rasengan against an opponent (I.e. to hold them down/make diversions).

Nice, manga evidence! The only weird thing is that I have seen Naruto use clones to make a rasengan, and then immediately dismiss them, quite a few times. At least if I'm remembering correctly.

Clones divide his chakra up equally, so he uses them to create the rasengan to his control and then makes them disperse so he can regain the chakra they used up. Simples.

Naruto uses them now since it is a lot easier and possibly more powerful. When he was a kid it took him longer to make the rasengan as well it looked more hollow. With clones he has one concentrate on rotation and the other on compressing it or something.

I guess that makes sense. I just find it a little odd that out of the hundreds of rasengans that Naruto has created, and in all the years that the anime/manga as been running, he's only done it without clones once or twice. You would think at least a couple more opportunities would have arisen.

actually the first manga page you presented he didnt get the rasengan correctly.. he loses the shape easily, the first time he used rasengan without clones was...

however i am curious why he was never able to make a rasengan properly again without the use of clones because u cant say it was because of kurama because if anything all that wild chakra would make it harder to control ...

Manga has now also shown naruto to be capable of using rasengan's or rasenshuriken's without the assistance of clones.
