WTF? Naruto can make a rasengan without clones

In episode 168 (around 15:00), naruto created a rasengan, and then turned it into a rasenshuriken, without using clones. If he is able to do this, why does he almost always use clones?

That is why he has to create 1 to 2 clones to help him.

No... you can see when the camera zooms out that they weren't involved in making it... at least that's how I see it

He can make rasengans without clones, the only reason why he uses them is to assist him with actually using the rasengan against an opponent (I.e. to hold them down/make diversions).

It occurred at 16:50 of episode 168, his clones were somewhat a good distance from the original body. I can see where OP was confused but his 2 clones helped with the formation of it. Once you see both clones you notice their hands extended towards Naruto helping mold the rasenshuriken.

Lol, I see what you're saying. If it's not a mistake, it's certainly awful animation. Their arms are like 10 feet away and not moving.

Btw, I said around 15:00 because people view the episode in different places. In my version, it happens around 15:20.
