they are drastically different and change back and forth. This is a manga we not real life. Hair is half of the characters appearance.

and yet there are many characters that changed hairstyle like Neji, Ino, Chouji, Hinata

so why can't Madara grow and cut his hair? I'm sure you would too in a time span of a hundred years
