Wouldn't Naruto be a chuunin if 3rd didn't die?

I mean think about it.
Naruto was pummled into the ground by Neji
but still kept planning about his next move.
Then he came up from under,
and punched Neji.
Neji couldn't feel a thing after a while.
If the 3rd hadn't died, and 5th became the 5th,
wouldn't Naruto be chuunin?

please re-read the manga, its not the 3rd who decides about who becomes a chuunin or not, its all of the kage's (damn i forgot it as well, must review) and when tsunade came almost all the kage's pinpointed on one shinobi alone - and that was shikamaru...

besides, the third hokage was destined to die, so don't say "what ifs" its a pointless topic

Did all the 'Kages' even attend the Chuunin Exam in Konoha? If that was the case, then surely, they would've all helped fend off all the surprising attacks from Sound and Wind. But, noooo, cause from what I recalled, it NEVER happened. I think you meant the 'Daimyos' (Landlords). They were sure as hell there, if my memory serves me right.

And, also, nonetheless, a topic is still a topic as it is, pointless or not. So yeah, don't think there was really a call to disregard other members' eager curiosity there.

Nope i think not though Naruto had scored some good points in his fight vs Neji still Shikamaru outsmarted everyone and had the perfect leading behavior, and a chuunin must have leadership behavior something Naruto lacked at the time and still lack to this day, because of his short temper!
Of caurse now he is even better than a juunin, but he still is a genin lol & i think he most likely will stay as so until he becomes Hokage.

i do not think that he would. shikamaru still got to be a chunin even though the third died. if naruto really deserved it at that point they would ahve given it to him like they did with shikamaru.
