naw but that is a good question, i never really thought of him as a mc because kishi never really portrayed him to be one. wen i think of kurama i think of that dragon in dbz who grants wishes, always saving someone's ass but in this case kurama is constantly saving that trash you call naruto.

Eh, not really, he was off screen for most of the story and depicted as more of a obstacle that worked against Naruto.

He also didn't get any development until quite recently.

Its hard to even consider him a character early in the story as he was rarely shown and just had a few lines, he became a strong supporting character more recently.

OT: I'd say that Kurama is a main and consistent 'supporting' character, rather than a main character.

This makes the most sense. Although I'd still class him main (shadow) character

Well to be fair, Haku didn't actually want to kill them as if he did then Kurama or not, Sasuke would already be dead.

He survived because Haku didn't hit any vital points.

But Gaara would have killed them all if Kurama hadn't agreed to help Naruto out.

It aint just Naruto though, Kurama replenished Kakashi's chakra at least twice and his chakra made Kamui more effective (kakashi's own words). He also replenished Gai and gave chakra to the whole shinobi alliance.

He is not a main character, but a major supporting one.

He has shown character development since the Kazekage Retrieval Arc. He went from trying to take over Naruto's body to volunteering to lend Naruto chakra against Madara (just prior to Naruto becoming a perfect jinchuriki.)

He has had more than one flashback panel: the first time the sage and the "young" tailed beasts were shown, it was through Kurama's memory.
