Would you fund a NASA trip to Europa? I personally would. It's the first chance for us to finally get answers of one of the most important questions humans have ever had; "Is there life outside our planet".

The trip would cost around $17.5 billion which is a small amount in terms of other things we're spending that amount on.

The reason they want to go to Europa because they have found that under the icy shell of the moon, there's potentially life supporting water. Europa is special because before we were off-put by its icy shell, but upon closer investigation it was found that the moon shoots water out of geysers.

So I ask again, would you help fund this trip with tax dollars or other means or would you rather us not go?

Yea, I got $17.5 billion lying around in a shoe box under my bed and would love to fund this little NASA trip.

Personally I wouldn't, even if they did discover life what then? I'd rather they spend they the money on things that actually affect me like better and more efficient ways to grow crops vs trying to discover some alien bikini bottom

What's hilarious is that the US spends billions on the military that could equate to what we would need to get to Europa within days. I would spend extra taxes to it. But only after we had the technology for colonization.

How about we fund millions of starving children instead??
Smh humanity, we can't take care of our own home yet we're already searching for another. :|

Colonization on Europa? Eh. I'd rather do that on Mars. Europa is cold and desolate and they only want to see if it contains life. If it does we could examine the life and understand how it grew in that cold environment. It would be truly ground breaking.

It's not about searching for another home. This is simply to see if there's life elsewhere in our solar system. We already have enough food for everyone in the world to eat, it's simply about greediness and people taking more than they need.

No, haha. I meant when we had the technology to colonize a habitable planet, should we fund a trip to Europa for further exploration.

I'd really like for an unmanned spacecraft to look deeper into Europa but we should make sure to spend lots of money to deal with out own problems first.

It's not just that we have enough food, the planet sustains enough food and resources for the entirety of us to leave in peace and prosperity without an economy system that currently prevails and is systematically killing us off, and is decaying us inside out.

Since we are still condemned to that wretched life under the god called money, 17.5 billion dollars can definitely be spent with a more enlightened, ethical and humane purpose.

Yes I would, but only if we can obtain more promising evidence that suggests the existence of extraterrestrial life

Hopefully it would also shed light on how life, including human, came into existence

And you think we should stop space exploration to do it? What about cutting spending in other areas of government like military? Lol. The military spent $640 billion dollars in 2013 alone. That's around $11 billion dollars a week. Are you kidding me? Lol

Yep, I would stop both military progression and space exploration, at least until humanity stands on it's feet. As a whole.

I don't agree with that at all. You think we need over 17.5 billion to fix world hunger? Okay man Lol.

And you think it's normal to spend that amount of money on space exploration while the world is on it's knees, economically and morally speaking? Okay man.

I think it's okay to spend that amount of money on space exploration if we cut military spending and help feed the hungry. Unfortunately the world does not work so simply and there are so many other problems in the world.

Yeah, I would. It's not like Space Exploration is preventing the poor from eating. We could fund the poor if we truly wanted to, but let's be honest here, humans are too greedy and the government is f*cked up.
