[Debate] Would the abolishment of religion be good or bad?

I don't think it would matter much. Humans in general are so adamant in bringing each other down so they found reasons like skin colors, genders, races, physical appearances, traditions, sport teams or even fictional characters through history. Replace religion with something else (like fave color or coke preference idk), course of events would change but essentially we would be in not that different of a position.

Religion is a good tool to control people's emotions and behaviours. Like laws but reaches eternity. It closed minds, caused wars, flamed discrimination but it also kept people in line. It took away more than it have given, i can say that though.

Who knows, maybe if it did not exist some people would not be eager to question.

And as i see this came down to science vs religion...which are not essentially opposites.

how do u abolish a belief yet have a free country this generation has the entire WWW yet ironically is the most uneducated about the most important and best country in the world maybe even their own country which is sad and on another note it isnt good or bad nothing happens nothing would change and all that would happen is the public places like synagogues churches etc would disappear people still have their thoughts to worship in so the idea wouldnt work in the first place it isnt even hypothetical if you think it would just please hammer urself on the forehead with a corkscrew multiple times then get an electronic drill jam it in and superglue that baby into ur head dont worry there is nothing valuable in there anyways

Religion is a social phenomenon that happens when people with similar spiritual ideas begin to congregate, like most things, it's neither inherently good or bad. Certain institutions or groups can be bad news, but that's hardly anything unique to religion.

Depends. Some people actually turn over a new leaf with religion, then again others go on crusades for their religion. There is also the part of a religion giving comfort for life after death or whatever. Really hard to say when religion has been engraved into society since ancient times. Imo it would just be better if the religious zealots/extremists stopped.
