And I think he absorbed Manda's contract which is how he summoned him. He may not have won outright, but he certainly would not have survived that final blast.

they both had their advantages, you can't take out one guys move without the other losing one aswell and consider it fair.

Its kinda hard to say now that I have heard both sides of the argument. Deidara could definitely beat susuke, its just that he got mad and was out of control because of itachi's eyes and therefore sasuke's. Without orochimaru or with orochimaru, i believe. But hey, I could be wrong.
