. If being Konoha's puppet means living a life surrounded by friends and people who care about him, then yes, he did it for that.

sasuke already had a life surrounded by friends and people who care for him. itachi came in and destroyed all of that with torture and humiliation and corruption

no he didnt. no one knwos that.
sasuke only decided on killing everyone, and not just elders, when he had reached the absolute bottom of despair and had been manipulated, tortured, humiliated and used by several people.
telling child sasuke everything and never torturing him or doing anything to make sasuke go down any violent paths, would ensure sasuke would see the truth in the light that he does now.
sasuke, before all the torture bullshit, was a kind and forgiving child, even heroic. had itachi sat him down and told him everything in a non twisted non agenda way, he would have understood and vowed to live up to the ideals his brother does. the only reason itachi didnt do this is because "zomg he cant see uchihas in a bad light". yeah thats so much better than having sasuke be a violent vengeful murderous ass hole trying to murder naruto....itachi put the clan's pride above the safety of innocents from sasuke's hatred.
hashirama, unlike itachi, didnt see sasuke as a child to be manipulated and turned inot a soldier but rather a human being with emotions and maturity.
he knew they could not achieve victory vs akatsuki and come home only to have to deal with a vengeful emo idiot as well.
if sasuke did go back, and was never told anything, the mental damage that had already been done would linger on. and considering the kind of life konoha soldiers have, its onyl a matter of time before he snaps.
sending him back to konoha is not an act of love or wish for protection.

yes he did. he ordered sasuke to murder his own friends to gain mangekeyo. he wanted sasuke ot become hateful, vengeful and self motivated. when konoha is all about being a teamwork orientated, comrade loving society. theres no room for people who live only according to their personal hate and revenge. such a person would inevitably snap as they are sent on mission after mission and see their comrades die. sasuke being an ally of the leaf, with the mental damage he had taken, and the mental mindset he had, would inevitably snap and become a murderous insane villain, like obito, only faster.
seeing people you love die is a fact of ninja life and unless your mentally prepared for that, uchihas will inevitably become obitos.

what itachi didnt understand is torturing and humiliating and crushing a child psychologically doesnt make them some upstanding hero of the village. it just makes them a time bomb.

no he didnt. he wanted sasuke to die. either figthing a hopeless battle vs obito in his pointless revenge, or on some horrible sucide mission in konohas employ. death is all around you in the ninja world. the best thing itachi could have done was make sure sasuke was heroic and noble before leaving him. instead itachi crushed his sanity and tortured him to embrace the madness of hate and revenge.
and when sasuke didnt do waht he wanted, itachi planned to brainwash and enslave sasuke, meaning he never actually cared for sasuke as a person, only as a tool and wepaon.

He didn't think sasuke could handle truth and the consequences of his decision to destroy the leaf and kill the village elders.

do you know how the fanbase reacted to that?
even sasuke fans thought butchering people who had nothing to do with ANYTHING was insane and illogical. and that insanity was brought on only by extended manipulation and abuse by itachi, orochimaru and obito.
so how could itachi come to such an insane conclusion?
"oh his clan died at the hands of the hokage so therefore if i tell him, he absolutely will decide to kill thousands of innocent people who had nothing to do with it"?
sasuke was initially a kind and heroic child who loved the village and the clan. he would have seen that this is reality and konoha made the right decision, and embraced hiruzens will.
its only the insane bastard itachi forcibly created that decided on mass murder and genocide.

Both Itachi and Sasuke love each other, they just have different ways of showing their love and did what they thought was right, not respecting the other person's wishes.

itachi hates sasuke which is why he savagely beat him into a coma, broke his bones, tortured him for several days and destroyed his mind. then planned to overwrite and brainwash him.this is not the actions of a loving person you goddamn fool
