he hated sasuke so much he beat him inot a coma, and when sasuke did the logical thing and turned to hatred, itachi panicked and planned to permanently brainwash and rewrite sasukes mind. as if to say "i dont like you as you are now, so i want a new brother via brainwashing. arent i just a great guy?"

In the end, Danzo would only react to Konoha being in danger.

Danzo responds to Konoha being in danger by hiding himself and his root members like during the Pain invasion, and he didn't help in the Orochimaru one as well.

Itachi's actions speak a lot louder than his words. He tried to enslave sasuke to a corrupt government by using a brutal genjutsu, not knowing that it would lead to his death. Obviously Itachi hated konoha(since he let it get destroyed for no apparent reason) but since he enjoys manipulating people, he clearly didn't give a damn about Sasuke's sanity.

He did what he thought was right. Afterall, he is an uchiha and they are affected by the curse of wanting to do things alone. That's why he realized that he failed. If being Konoha's puppet means living a life surrounded by friends and people who care about him, then yes, he did it for that. He knew that if sasuke found the truth, sasuke would seek to destroy the village, which would cause him to be an enemy to the leaf. He never wanted sasuke to live as an enemy to the leaf like he did.

Manga facts disagree with your claim and support mine. He wanted sasuke to be safe, not to be known as an international criminal. He didn't think sasuke could handle truth and the consequences of his decision to destroy the leaf and kill the village elders. However he was wrong, as I said before, he failed but he did what he thought was right.

Both Itachi and Sasuke love each other, they just have different ways of showing their love and did what they thought was right, not respecting the other person's wishes.
