Would Itachi have defended Konoha from Pain if he were still alive?

Konoha. You know, the fucking village? How would Itachi have stopped Chou Shinra Tensei? Protect the whole village with Susanoo? This is not an Itachi vs Pain thread, this is a thread merely asking if Itachi would've:

- Protected his village
- Made a difference

With the answer to the latter being an obvious no. Itachi does not have sensing abilities, he would not be able to just go and seek out Nagato's real body even if he had intel on his abilities.

:syain cannot defeat itachi and neither would he fight itachi because
1.itachi can detetct a move before it is hit
2.itachi can reveal every secret of akatsuki and tobi would never let that happen so tobi would stop pain before the invasion started and paincan never win tobi:shrug:

I don't believe Itachi could solo Pain but he certainly would have held him off till Naruto arrived most likely prevented Kakashi's death then Kakashi, Naruto SM, Itachi, plus the toad sages would have absolutely hammered pain.
