I bet you think that if someone beats Sasori's Sandaime Kazekage puppet, they themselves are stronger than the Sandaime Kazekage. and about chou shinra tensei (tsunade and other ANBU survived it its only used to destroy buildings not to kill anybody

No chou shinra tensei was survived by the villagers because Tsuande healed everyone. It is a jutsu used to kill not just to destroy buildings. Itachi would not get healed by Tsunade for obvious reasons so his only hope to survive it is his susanoo but it also depends on how much chakra he has left.

Itachi was sick and blind by the time he was dying. If Pain decided to attack Konoha, Itachi would try to stop it from the shadows and by giving intel to the village through indirect means. It would help Konoha prepare for the attack and it wouldn't be as devastating. Itachi wouldn't go to Konoha to fight Pain because Itachi wants everyone to view himself as a villain so that Sasuke can be a hero for killing Itachi.

Itachi would probably want to stay alive to fight Sasuke so he may not risk his life to fight Nagato directly because he values his brother over his village.

I reckon he'd have probably helped Konoha but he wouldn't have changed the outcome. Pain would still stomp the village with Chou Shinra Tensei, and Itachi would probably die of exhaustion after defeating Animal Path + one or two more realms.

I am pretty sure we can all agree that the only path that can put a real threat on Itachi is Deva path. The other paths would get wrecked by Itachi. If he was in Konoha while it was being attacked then it will all depend where his position was. If he had to fight all 6 Pain's at one time then he would be in trouble but if he had to focus on the anything other then Deva path then he would pretty much wreck them. Deva can't really use Shinra Tensei around his fellow Pain's or he would kill them in the process. I'm pretty sure that Itachi's Final Susanoo plus yata mirror will easily tank any damage the Deva paths power can put out. I honestly don't think that Deva path can pull Itachi from his Susanoo either because Gaara has shown that you have to hold down Susanoo to pull the host out of its shell. If Deva path use his gravitational pull then the Itachi then his Susanoo would stay in place as it does when they naturally move anyway unless the Deva path can hold Susanoo in place while he pulls Itachi.

Very interesting topic, I do believe that Itachi would have helped, but more indirectly than directly. Itachi would have still wanted his plan for Sasuke to come to yield some fruit if not then it would have rendered Itachi's plans for Sasuke useless, and subsequently the Uchiha Massacre.

To the OP, I think the addition of a healthy Nagato would make this scenario much more interesting.

He is more than capable of doing that. Let's make a senerio were they all come at once.

There are only a few elite ninja you can compare to Pain or Nagato. Itachi is not one of them.
