Mizu panted and wiped blood away from his mouth. The two had been fighting for an hour now. No matter how hard he hit her, Alice would just stand right back up and counterattack. He knew he couldn?t go on much longer, but he had to keep fighting. Su and Shizuka didn?t have much time.
Alice: What?s wrong Onii-chan? Are you giving up?
Mizu: I?d never lose to scum like you!
Alice: Aww, you hurt my feelings! I?ll make you pay!
She lunged at him. Mizu ducked. She had narrowly missed slicing his head off. He back flipped away from her.
Mizu [thinking]: It?s impossible to defeat her... She just doesn?t tire! At this rate, all of us will die... I guess I have no choice.
---Su?s Dreamland---
Su sat up and rubbed her head. She looked at herself, expecting to see blood and tattered clothing. Instead she found herself in a short, plain black kimono with a faded white outline. Her wounds seemed to have healed and she was barefoot. She stood up and looked around. She was in a small room that resembled her own room in real life. The walls were decorated with colourful posters of bands, anime characters and cats. There was a twin-size bed in the corner and a small bedside lamp on a desk. Mangas in the tankobon format were spread out on her bed and desk. There were no windows or doors, and the walls were a plain gray-ish white colour.
Su: This is weird... How did I end up back in my room?
???: This is your dreamland.
Su: My what?!
???: Your dreamland. The place that resembles you. It differs in every person.
Su: But...what am I doing here? And just who are you? Can I call you Mysterious Voice Guy?^-^
???: -_- It?s V! How can you forget in such a short amount of time?!
Su: I dunno ^-^? You haven?t answered my other question...
V: You?re here because this is where everyone goes every once in a while. I summoned you here to talk to you. Remember how your friends told you about how I talk to them in their dreams?
Su: Yup.
V: Well I?m here to talk to you.
Su: I can?t even see you -_-
A cloaked figure appeared on the bed.
Su: Much better ^-^ Now, what did you wanna talk about?
V: Don?t you have any questions for me? That?s the only reason I?m here.
Su: Hmm...well, let?s start off with this: Why are we all here?!
V: .... No comment. Next question.
Su: *sighs* Who is Luna? Does Carlie have a split personality too?
V: Luna is the hidden you. She was made of all the negative feelings built up inside you. And yes, Carlie had a split personality too. She and Juuri and sisters, in a way.
Su: Are there any other people like me and Carlie?
V: There were. They were murdered by people who feared them because of their strength.
Su: So you mean we might get KILLED?!
V: If you are not careful, yes. My time is up now. Enjoy your stay in your dreamworld ^_^ Bye~
V waved as he vanished in a gray mist. Su sighed in frustration and sat down on her bed. She wished she could read Special A to calm down. The room was filled with a shimmering pink light and all volumes of Special A appeared in the middle of her floor, stacked neatly. Su walked over to them and noticed a note stuck to the one on top.
I forgot to tell you that anything you wish to happen in your dreamworld can come true ^^. But don?t wish for anything stupid like a dinosaur.
V.
Su frowned. How did he know she was gonna wish for a dinosaur? She shrugged and sat down on the floor. She picked up the first volume and turned to the first page.
Su [thinking]: I might as well enjoy myself here, cause when I wake up I?m gonna have to deal with Mizu >:0
---In NB with Mizu---
Mizu: You have left me no choice, Alice. I?m going to have to kill you.
Alice laughed sarcastically.
Alice: You? Defeat ME? You know that could never happen. I was made to be stronger than you! Kalona gave me more techniques than you!
Mizu: There you are wrong. I?m actually the strongest of all the Raven Mockers, but I have to hide my power so I don?t destroy the rest of you.
Alice: What are you talking about? I?m supposed to be the most powerful! I won?t let you steal my title!
Mizu smirked as Alice continued ranting.
Mizu: You?re really foolish. Even after all these years, you still haven?t figured out that all Kalona does is use us. He never planned to help the rest of us. He just wants to use us for his own selfish desires.
Alice: H-he?s not going to bring K-kei back? B-but he promised...
Mizu: He lied.
Alice: N-no... You?re the one who lies! Kalona-sama would never betray me!
You?re a traitor!
Mizu: So you refuse to leave Kalona?
Alice: I?d never leave him!
Mizu grinned. He was hoping she would say that. Alice took a defensive stance, waiting for him to attack. His black magic surrounded the air around him. It reflected the sun?s rays in Alice?s eyes. She stumbled back, trying to remember the words to the darkness spell. The magic began moulding itself into different shapes. Alice watched in amazement as they took the form of 15 different swords, suspended in mid-air.
Alice: Impossible! Summoners went extinct hundreds of years ago!
Mizu: That?s what the rest of the world thought. I should be the only one left, Kalona killed the rest.
Alice: N-no way... Kalona-sama would have told me about your abilities!
Mizu: He would have told you if he knew. This battle will be over in about 20 seconds, so why don?t you just shut up and live the few seconds that you have left?
Alice covered her head and sobbed.
---With the rest of the group---
Carlie: We?ve already been here Roku!-_-
Roku: No we haven?t >.< My sense of direction never fails me!
Train: Uhh...She?s right Roku >.>
Roku: What did you say?! *shakes Train*
Shizune: Put him down >.< This is getting us nowhere! We have to work together!
Everyone stared at her as if she had just lost her mind.
Shizune: What? I?m never wrong U_U
Train: *rolls eyes* Sure you aren?t.
Shizune: What was that? *death glares Train*
Train: N-nothing...
Ichi: Hey, leave him alone! You guys are never happy with what the rest of
us do!
Sakura: Yeah! I?m tired of never having a say in anything!
Roku: Well that?s cause you guys are always wrong!
Shizune: Stop thinking that you?re the boss of us all! You and Chii are the only ones who get a say in anything!
Sakura: Stop acting innocent! You and your sister always act like our mothers!
Keotsu: Yeah! You never notice us ):
Carlie sighed as the group argued. She sat on a large stump and frowned. Su could be in danger. Shade approached her quietly and sat beside her.
Shade [whispering]: Go look for your friend if you want. I?ll cover for you.
Carlie [whispering]: Will you really? Thanks Shade, I owe you one.
Shade [whispering]: Don?t mention it. Go now, while they?re distracted.
Carlie nodded and ran as quietly as she could. She approached the edge of the clearing they had stopped in and looked back at Shade. He waved for her to go on. She ran into the forest. She didn?t have much time. Twilight was approaching, and she knew if she got lost in the forest at night she?d never be found.
---With Mizu---
He slowly raised his hand. The swords all turned and pointed and Alice. She had tried to cast shielding spells, but her Mana had been drained and they would not last against his swords. A few seconds passed. He lowered his hand slowly, the swords twitching. He murmured a single word, his command word, and the swords all rushed forward at Alice, who was trying to run away into the forest. They were faster than her. The first sword cut her arm, the second her cheek. The other 13 all struck, the last one impaling her in the chest. She choked on her own blood and leaned forward. She stumbled a few feet ahead, before falling to the ground. She felt something grab on to the back of her shirt.
Mizu: You even fall slowly. How pathetic.
Alice realized that she had been falling for the last few seconds. Mizu had somehow managed to get to her in time to grab her. He grinned and shifted his heel. In a split second, he had traveled all the way across the clearing and caught her. It was a gift of his that he discovered when he was a young boy. His speed was incredibly fast. To the human eye, it looked like he was teleporting. Not even an after-image was left.
Mizu: I?m surprised you?re not dead yet. Oh well, you?ll be dead soon enough.
He threw her into a tree and she sunk to the forest floor. Mizu grabbed the bloody red necklace around his neck and ripped it off. He threw it at her and chuckled.
Mizu: Where?s your dear Kalona now? Ha!
He walked to the other side of the clearing and picked up the two unconscious girls, Su and Shizuka. He knew he needed to get away from this place, before the other Raven Mockers arrived and found Alice. He ran between the trees, carrying Shizuka and Su. He felt tired, but he kept going.
Mizu [thinking]: Hang in there...Just a little longer.
---At the pond---
The fight was taking longer than L expected. Fighting two people at once wasn?t easy.
L [thinking]: Dammit Alice! Where are you?
He back flipped just in time to dodge one of Chii?s mad swings.
L: I see a spot for a flame, no one else?s but mine to tame, to make a ball of fire is my desire!
He held his palm towards Chii, and a ball of fire shot towards her at rapid speeds. Before the fire couple touch her, a wave of water from the pond knocked fell on top of the, knocking L over and soaking both of them in freezing cold water. Grimm grinned from near the pond.
L: I`ve had enough of these games! Time to end this!
L pointed his katana at Chii. As he recited his spell, a circle with runes on it appeared behind his back. It glowed a deep blue, which Chii assumed was the colour of his magic.
L: Infernal Heaven, Diamond Abyss, Spectral Moon, Shadowed Widowmaker, pierce the heavens and spare this soul!
The circle turned to a hazy mist that was absorbed into the sword. The katana began to glow an eerie blue.
L: With every slash of this sword you shall lose one of your senses. If I hit you 6 times, you die.
He lunged at her. Chii was too stunned to dodge. He cut her cheek, and suddenly Chii could not feel her scythe anymore.
Grimm: Chii! Move!
He knocked her out of the way, and L?s katana sliced his arm. He couldn?t feel anything, either.
L: I have to finish this fast! Before the effects wear off!
Chii and Grimm had already jumped away from L. They were waiting for his next move. The next few minutes were spent blocking and parrying any blows L dealt. He seemed to be faster now, and whenever one of them approached him he would jump back quicker than the eye, so they could not catch him.
Grimm: *growls* I?ve had enough of this guy! Demon Blade, Activate!
He ran his index finger along the blade. It began to glow a strange red. Grimm smirked.
Grimm: Prepare to die, Mage!
He flew over to L, and slashed at him before he could avoid the attack. The blade absorbed the blood that fell from L?s shoulder and L dropped to his knees.
L: What the hell?!
Grimm: My blade?s special ability weakens the person who?s blood it has absorbed. It doubles the amount of blood it?s taken and that blood pours out of the opponent?s body. The blood you gave me was enough for me to make you lose enough blood to almost make you faint. The sad thing is, it will only accept a person?s blood once every battle, so I can?t kill you the fun way. I guess I just have to behead you instead!
He raised his sword.
Chii: NO!
She jumped in front of L.
Grimm: Chii...
Chii: Just let him die in peace! Please...!
Grimm lowered his sword and it turned to its normal black form.
Grimm: Okay. We should get out of here just in case reinforcements come.
Chii: *nods* We should find Lawl?s cabin. The others will be there.
Grimm: Hai.
The two headed for the forest. Chii looked back at L. He was lying on the ground, twitching every now and then. The glowing red necklace he was wearing before was on the ground beside him. It had lost its shine, and was now a dull black that seemed to blend in with the inky darkness that was settling over the forest. She looked ahead and ran into the forest after Grimm.
---With Carlie---
She had been running for 5 minutes when her pack began twitching.
Carlie: O_O?
She slowed to a jog and slipped her pack off her shoulders. She opened the button that held it all together. Something black jumped out at her and she fell on her back on the leaf-covered ground.
Eliana: Finally, you noticed me!
Carlie: You mean you were hiding in my pack all this time?!
Eliana: Yup :3 You should keep going, it?s getting dark
Carlie: What about you?
Eliana: I?m coming with you... Duh -_-
Carlie: Can you keep up?
Eliana: Of course I can, you imbecile!
Carlie: -_- Whatever.
Carlie picked up her pack and began running again. Eliana easily kept up with her. They ran for what seemed like hours, but they never found anything. The forest was black and Carlie could see nothing. They stopped for a rest, and suddenly a hand reached out and clamped over Carlie?s mouth. An arm pulled her back into the bushes. She struggled and bit the hand of her captor.
???: Unless you wanna give our location away to our enemies I suggest you stop struggling and listen to me.
Carlie opened her eyes and found herself in a small meadow-like place in the middle of the tall green trees. A small candle burned in the center of it all. Two bodies lay near the fire, covered in bandages. She turned around to see who had grabbed her.
Carlie: It?s you! WHAT THE FU-
???: Shut up! Do you want EVERYONE to know where we are?
Carlie: I?m sorry Mizu...
Mizu: Where is the rest of your group?
Carlie: I kinda... ran away from them ^-^ What are you doing here?
Mizu: I rescued your sister and her teacher from getting killed by someone.
Carlie: Explain please.
She sat beside the candle and listened quietly as Mizu explained what happened. Eliana curled into a ball and fell asleep.
Carlie: So... Su has a split personality as well? Shizune-chan was right... But why did you bring them here?
Mizu: Once Kalona realizes that Alice hasn?t come back he?ll send Raven Mockers after her. I can?t fight more than one Raven Mocker at a time, so I ran away here and tended to their wounds. Luckily, I had the antidote to Alice?s poison.
Carlie: So they?ll be alright?
Mizu: Yeah. You should get to sleep. You can leave tomorrow morning to look for the rest of your group.
Carlie nodded and stretched out beside the candle. She was cold. She rolled over and looked at the sky.
Carlie: Are you a real person?
Mizu: Huh?
Carlie: Do you come from real life or are you a default like Shizune and Shizuka?
Mizu: I?m from real life... But my character?s past seems more realistic than my own.
Carlie: What happened?
Mizu explained about Rain and how he was falsely accused.
Mizu: After that, I wandered around NB for a few weeks. A group of people found me while I was moments away from death because of starvation. They took me in as their own. We were all the same-Summoners, the only ones left in all of NB. Most of them had been wiped out hundreds of years ago and those with talent were few. Some summoned weapons, like me. Some animals, some could even summon things like chairs and beds. Around the time I was 11, an ?unknown? enemy attacked us. He killed everyone but me. Kalona found me later and took me in. I only later learned Kalona killed everyone and erased my memories so I forgot it was him who attacked. He didn?t know I had a talent for summoning. He offered to bring Rain back for me. I was young and foolish, so I accepted. I became his first experiment. Back then, I was an ordinary Mage. He forced other people?s Mana into me, he forced me to learn difficult spells, he cast confusing spells on me. Eventually I grew wings and grew powerful, much like all of his experiments. We were all ?brothers and sisters? and Alice was put in charge of us. Alice was the only one who didn?t get turned into an experiment. His army grew. He called us the ?Raven Mockers? because we look like big ravens at night. I don?t know what he plans to do, but I know it?s bad.
Carlie: It sounds horrible...I?m sorry...
Mizu: It?s got nothing to do with you. Now go to sleep.
He blew the candle out. The only light came from the stars in the sky. That night, Carlie couldn?t sleep. She watched the moonless sky, going over what had happened in the past few days in her head. That night, she vowed to help all those in NB who needed her help, for she knew she was meant to.
