FIFA has revealed the design & name for the match ball that will be used during the tournament: Trionda

The name TRIONDA can be translated from Spanish as β€œthree waves”, and, alongside other unique and innovative design features, celebrates the fact that, for the first time, three host countries – Canada, Mexico and the United States – are uniting to host the FIFA World Cupβ„’.

The ball’s vibrant design features a red, green and blue colour scheme that pays homage to the three host countries, while a brand-new four-panel construction with fluid geometry replicates the waves referenced in the ball’s name. These panels connect to form a triangle in the centre of the ball in a nod to the historic union of the three host nations. Iconography that represents each host country adorns the ball, with the maple leaf for Canada, an eagle for Mexico and a star for the United States, while gold embellishments pay tribute to the FIFA World Cup Trophy, underlining the significance of the stage provided by FIFA’s flagship tournament. TRIONDA boasts several key performance innovations. The four-panel construction incorporates intentionally deep seams, creating a surface that produces optimal in-flight stability by ensuring sufficient and evenly distributed drag as the ball travels through the air. Additionally, embossed icons that are only visible up-close elevate grip when striking or dribbling the ball in wet or humid conditions.

We're getting closer!

Next weekend will be decisive for Norway. Israel is arguably the only other tough opponent in our group. We already beat them away but Israel is desperate for that 2nd spot just narrowly losing to Italy in overtime last match. If we can win that one, the next one is guaranteed, and there is no way in hell Italy catches up to our goal difference so we can lose that final match comfortably :lok::lok:

Same for Belgium. They're currently 2nd with 10/12, however they played one match less than Wales & Macedonia. During the next confrontation, they will have to play against both back to back. So, if they win both, qualification is practically guaranteed; even 4/6 should normally be enough.

The annoying part is that the Belgian defense is really shaky.

Can't recall seeing a Euro/World Cup without them so I'm sure they will. First true test post Golden-generation perhaps.

Oh, my sweet summer child, between 2002 & 2012 they failed to qualify for five big tournaments in a row (3 EC, 2 WC) and it wasn't even close. They always ended up 3rd or 4th in their qualifying rounds without ever having given the impression they could do better. This was so bad they tumbled down the global FIFA country ranking somewhere between position 60 - 70.

The reason why the Golden Generation lasted a decade was, among other things, that even in their early twenties they were significantly better than anything produced the preceding decade.

I'm drawing blank on Euro 2008 and 12, thought they were in them abd the WC 06 and 10 lol.
They already started talking about the end of that generation in 2018 it feels so felt like they had been around more often lol

We won 2-4 from Wales and North-Macedonia had a draw, so we are now leader while have played one game less than runner-up NM. The latter still needs to play against Wales, while we against Liechtenstein & Kazakhstan. So, qualification is almost a certainty as 3 additional points will suffice.

That said, the match was an atrocity.

On another note: Algeria, Ghana and Cabo Verde have qualified. The latter for the first time in history.

France, Croatia, Portugal & Norway have also qualified. In the meantime, the coach of Nigeria has accused DR Congo of voodoo during their losing penalty shoot-out.

This Friday it's the final draw to determine against which countries every team needs to play; there are also rumours that the FIFA is going to use the occassion to award a FIFA Peace Prize...to Trump xd
