I just hope you never get anywhere near to a position where you can affect the laws or it's implementation with that kind of reasoning.
As far as I can see it's nothing but some perverts trying to take advantage under excuse that the woman was a thief. She may or may not have a valid excuse. But they showed they had no better morals than the girl. They acted like criminals themselves.
What proof do you have or them being perverts? I'm pretty sure it said shop owners with no specific gender. Fact is from your point of view its wrong because that's how you feel. Different cultures have different morals, morals are not subjective to your predilection. Why do people keep stealing over here? Because they can get away with it. I bet she won't think to steal anymore. I'm sure there were other ways for her to get access to a phone. Let it had been food or something necessarily required (food), I would have had a different opinion. But she stole an iPod/phone, which is not a need in life.

At first I thought they cut up her clothes to retrieve the stolen item (Which would still be wrong not even giving her the chance to give it up, and cutting her clothes up to that extent), then I read they cut her hair too. Her hair too?? What the hell. Their acts was completely and utterly unnecessary. Not sure if perversion, or very spiteful humans.

i know she was wrong but what they did to her is not good. they went too far.
just sending her to the police is enough.

Okay so what was so bad about what they did. And whats the difference between punishment, what should she have been fined? locked up? wiped all those are just your opinions that stem from your own culture, what you think is morally right isnt what someone else think is morally right. Your assuming what they did is inhuman or them being monsters but the reality is she did something wrong and had to be punished, weather that be jail, a fee, social shame etc its all the same.
In essence, the morals of a culture are the perspectives of many individuals. So if in the eyes of the thief, if she didn't think what she did was wrong. Why should she even be punished?
