So then it is not a paradox that she has to go against her religion to do her job? That means she must put her beliefs to the side to be forced to do something. I can (now) see her resigning but she was put in jail.
No, it means she should not have taken that job. The scripture of her religion says that followers of her religion must obey the authorities of laws and governments because God is the one who placed them there. Others say that when laws contradict scripture, don't follow them. In that case, she should have quit because the job and her religion do not go hand in hand. She was not forced to provide marriage licenses as a career, she chose to adopt that as her career. As such, she must follow the duties assigned to her, or quit. If her religion contradicts the duties of her job, it is not the job's responsibility to adjust, but hers.

She shouldn't have to do anything. America's law system is a joke anyway. This reminds me of another thread were gays were refused a wedding cake and sued for emotional distress and now swimming in cash
U can't deny someone a freedom that the government allows them because of your personal feelings or beliefs. If u feel that you can't conscientiously perform the duties of your job anymore thanks to your beliefs then you should quit.

Tbh, the government should have seen this coming when they decided to pass the law for gay marriage in all 50 states. They knew it would cause problems with ppl who are religious. It was reckless on the part of the government

The bible doesnt say don't help gays
Jesus himself said he who is without sin may cast the first stone
Translation
Nobody is sinless nobody can judge someone else
Christian based homophobia is the worst contradiction cause we're supposed to be understanding people and belittle nobody.
She wouldn't be going against Christianity in any way especially since doing her job doesnt make her gay

That has nothing to do with this though. That is an entirely different issue with its own corruption. If you have a problem with the corruption going on with police officers getting away with violating rights and safety, shouldn't you be glad there was no corruption that caused Kim Davis to get away with violating the rights of others? What exactly are you trying to say, that because corrupt officers get away murder, she should get away with her own crime and shortcomings? What sense does that make?
It has everything to do with this because the cops breaking the law are not jailed. Who did she harm? No one. What I'm saying is that she should not be jailed for following her beliefs. No matter which way you look at it, the growing Christian minority is slowly losing their religious freedom. To answer your comparison, no I'm not stating that. But you have a woman going to jail for belieiving her religion, but a guy who participated in raping kids having his jailed sentence reduced. Our law system is a joke

So God supports homosexuality now? Don't quote scripture if you don't know what your talking about. Times were different in that day and the laws were not like they are today. Another thing pointed out in the verse is "evil" which in biblically definition homosexuality follows under. In that same verse it also says that live as free not using freedom to cover up evil which negates anything you just said
e subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Riker, please don't be ignorant and quote scriptue you don't understand because this is a battle you won't win. So let's just leave scripture out of it.

The only thing I agree with is her quitting she should not have been jailed

And again with have another ignorant person who doesn't understand scripture trying to interpret what they don't know. What sin did she commit? Who is she judging? You talk about understanding people yet she was put in jail for something like this. People steal yet they get off with probabtion, the man that participated with Subway spokesmam in those pedophile rapes and child porno paid his way to prevent jail time, cops are killing blacks for no justifiable reason and are only getting suspended. Please don't come at me with nonsense like I don't know anything

God destroyed a city based off homosexual acts, did you know that?

Since when in thr bible does it say specify which sinners you don't wanna cooperate with in government duties.
No where
Every sin is equal in the bible
Mostly
She wasn't doing anything religious.
She has to do her job
Are you Even Christian?

Thats absurd. You cant throw her in jail for exercising her beliefs.

Of course she cant deny someones right as well but to be thrown in jail for that? Something easily fixed?

Thats like saying "oh hey lets throw away this remote because it ran out of batteries"

Just fire her ass and tell her that she cant deny people's rights.

This was not originally the terms of her job. Her job was to provide marriage licences to people under laws that did not contradict her belief. Her choice was a job that didn't contradict her beliefs, but was changed to be something that does not fit her beliefs. You're basically saying "Oh, the terms of her job have been changed on her? Tough, she should be unemployed!"

This needed resolved, as the job is now something that condones gay marriage, but imprisoning her is insane. This is breaching equality, and reaching domination.

And yet, others will argue that it is a hate crime against homosexuals. The religious folk are gonna have their freedom stripped from them in due time

I don't think this whole thing going on with her is considered "news" worthy. All in all the point of all this BS is that the judicial system is just garbage.

I have no doubt she has plenty of support behind the scenes encouraging her to act in such a manner. She is probably in jail because she ignored a court order (also known as being in contempt of court.)

The only difference between this woman and most of us is that, if we refuse to do a part of our jobs due to our beliefs, we will be asked not to come back the next day. In other words, fired. Government workers can't be fired because they are either elected to their positions or belong to a union of some type.

In short, this drama is to create a public spectacle in hopes of creating an outcry among the religious conservative community.

But hate by any name is still hate.

Dunno if this "religious freedom" was ever used to prevent a divorced or non-virgin person getting married backlash would be different. Even if the source religion of these instances are the same.

Or some other person would resist giving marrige license to an interracial couple for preserving white America and it could be "freedom of speech".

Same gender marrige is legal in USA.

Under legal circumstances 2 people of same gender can get married.

Resisting this for that sole reason is considered hatred.

If they do not like it they can move to another country to give all the straight martige licenses they want; too bad most of these ignorant dwebs can only pinpoint their neighboring countries; and both of them legalized same gender marrige.

Hatred to who? Those who don't feel like it is hatred? Do I hate meat because it is my faith to solely commit myself to being vegan? She should not have been jailed, fired maybe but jailed no. And please stop quoting scripture you don't understand. The lot of you keep throwing divorce and remarrying in your post and not understanding the context of it

well, since i live in kentucky, allow me to explain this to you.

kim davis is an elected gov official who's job is to issue marriage licenses recognized by the government. as we all know, gov officials are not allowed to:

1. refuse service to anyone
2. refuse to comply with the federal law
3. enforce religious or personal beliefs onto the public

she was taken to court because she was not issuing marriage licenses out. she cited her religious beliefs as the reason for doing so. and the court denied her appeal, saying it was against the law to refuse to uphold the law based on religious beliefs, and gave hr the option to resign if she wanted. she did not. so instead, she conned to get payed by the taxes of ky citizens while not performing her job as a gov official. she was repeatedly brought back to court. she kept refusing to do her job.

she was arrested thursday for contempt of court, NOT for being christian. she got in trouble for attempting to enforce her religious views into the government. that is against the law.

smh at anyone who thinks this is "an attack on christianity". this woman was arrested for contempt of court and the refusal to comply with the law.

and anyone who thinks she has the right to use her religion in a government position is crazy.

Freedom of religion is in the constitution yet she was throw in jail.
freedom of religion is in the constitution, but so is the ban from using religion in government. no one is infringing her rights in the slightest.

"they are violating my religious right by not allowing me to enforce my religion onto them and the government!"

...is nonsense.

the government is forbidden by the constitution from having an official religion or religious preference at any point.
