Correct Sensei. Also I can post as quickly as you want me to, I might not quote after this so subscribing would be efficent.*looks at village banner*
I see you're in my Alma mater. Anyway this is your very first training isn't it.
I always subscribe so no worries. Alright, so the first thing I'm going to take you through is some basic crap so I can gauge your understanding of our RP system. For now, most of your training is going to be acclimating you to the RP system, I'll get to genjutsu later seeing as I can't expect you to grasp things without having a descent foundation. Now I'm going to ask you two sets of questions, one pertaining to the canon universe of which our RP is relatively based on and the other pertaining to our actual system. Answer these questions in a sufficient amount of detail as you can. If you're not so sure just answer to the best of your ability. Depending on how well you answer these questions will determine how much context I need to give to you.Correct Sensei. Alright I read through the contents guide and the Genjutsu Rules and Description. Since I looked over the guide already I got it down, and for genjutsu I more or less understood what was going on. I was confused on noticing if its a genjutsu, unless you have dojutsu you can't detect the changes in chakra flow. So you need to make a guess based on your surroundings? Hmph, sounds like that can be abused. The elemental genjutsu was weird but I got it. The layering however sounds sick, because once your in a genjutsu it'll be easier for the second one to work.Alright that was more or less mediocre. I'll probably weave in a lot more of the concepts as we go along then. I'll be giving you the equivalent of homework which is going to be reading and studying up on some of the guides here on the base which provide pretty good information relevant to our RP system.
Before we continue I'm going to explain the method of training I do. Regardless of whether or not I'm roleplaying as my character or explaining things OOC I use a specific type of training which isn't like how most others do. Since I am your first teacher it's not as though this will throw you for any sort of loop, but you'll come to find out that other instructors, bar the people who use this system, teach in a more linear conventional style. My style of training is based off of how I was trained by Scorps and Liliana. I've since expanded on the method from their original elemental basis and now use it for virtually every other area of training. The style of training is called the Method System. In short, as opposed to linearly training you jutsu by jutsu from Lowest rank to highest, the method system groups techniques together based on similarities in function and execution regardless of rank. For example a method may contain 5 jutsu which all have some similar characteristics and all of different ranks from E to Forbidden. I will teach you the jutsu in those method until all jutsu are learned. Normally in a bio people will say "B-ranked completed" or something along those lines. However that wouldn't be so fluid with my training method. Nevertheless despite this system I use you can only use techniques that you have appropriate rank to use. As an S-jounin you can only learn up to B-rank techniques. Lucky for you there are only 3 A-rank techniques in Genjutsu and no S-ranks that you can learn. So you'll be able to learn most of the techniques.
Also another thing about me, I'm not a technique oriented teacher. Remember in my PM when I said you weren't going to like me? Well yeah, this may be a reason. Considering that genjutsu is my pride and joy and I'm very disappointed at the incompetency and general disdain people have for genjutsu I make it my goal to force my students to be, a minimum, proficient beyond most people. If you hate genjutsu still, that's fine but at least know how to use it and fight against it properly. Though regardless of my love for genjutsu I'd rather you know how to use something than just passing you the techniques and letting you be on your marry way and end up in a quote...if you don't know what quoting is (and I don't just mean in a fight I mean the principle) then you will learn soon enough on your own. So you may not learn techniques to quickly with me, you may be here for a while until I feel you're smart enough to use techniques.
Anyway that's enough of my pre-lecture. I'm now going to explain to you the precise method of training I'm going to use for you based on what you requested and then give you your first piece of homework. You requested RP style training which means that I'm going to be roleplaying as one of my bios The Regent of the Mask. You can find my bio if you'd like to know more about him but I will be RPing in a style similar to him. You will do the same with one of your bios. I will go through teaching and explaining things to you the in an RP style and afterward I will translate what I just wrote OOC for specific things like assigned tasks I want you to do, or questions I ask. You're free to ask questions at any point in or out of character. If you don't ask questions I'm going to assume you know shit and will likely test you on it later.
First thing for hw I want you to do is to go through the following links.
You must be registered for see links
In this thread under the "Training Ground Section" there are links to "Elemental Strengths and Weaknesses" "Elemental Combinations" "Elemental Clashes" read through those links. Under the "Other RP Quick Links" look at the "Roleplay updates" and "RP tips of the day" to just familiurize yourself. Feel free to look at anything else you like in the contents thread and ask questions as needed.
You must be registered for see linksMuch of the information I will be teaching you will be referenced in here. Read through at your leisure, just know that what is explained in here will not be heavily emphasized and will be presumed knowledge for the most part. Advanced applications and controversies will be what I focus on in training you.
Once you've read through these come back here and let me know, post questions if you have any, and we'll proceed.
Nope, I've heard of metagaming before and hopefully you'll teach me how to better detect things like that, and I'm ready for it!I'm sure you're aware of the concept of metagaming. People tend to do that a lot or to over complicate their deductive reasoning for how they are in a genjutsu. Metagame comes in when somebody uses a typically discrete technique that is harder to decipher than others. They'll typically point out something that is far to minuscule that ordinarily wouldn't be picked up on or wrongly assert a loophole in the technique's description to try and reason their way out of it. It's pathetic which is why I also go through methods of how to adequately detect you're in genjutsu at least from the canon lists. I'll go over layering and elemental genjutsu more in depth than what's in the thread as well when we cross that bridge. Any other questions or concerns before we begin?
Mugen laid peacefully against the soft grass, absorbing the energy the sun had to offer. Simply relaxing, that is until a man with short dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes approached him. Mugen sat up, he must be one of the teachers the Mizukage had arranged for him to be taught by. Mugen had overheard a few gasps when his name was mentioned so there must be some fame or event attached to it. The Mizukage had only addressed him as "The Regent". Mugen of course didn't really care, all he wanted to do was gain powerful enough jutsu to make his enemies squeal.Alright then, we'll begin.
Of all the places for him to go to train a student the Regent had to return to Kirigakure. The village brought up a rather painful sense of nostalgia and a bit of an awkward feeling considering his past transgressions against the Mizukage. However he was almost sure that the young student that he was to take up had no idea of the Regent nor would he be capable of doing anything even if he did hear the rumors of the man. That being said, he reviewed the files on his student and committed it to memory. Upon making it to training field he saw his shaggy haired, dark skinned student sitting underneath a tree.
The first thing that ran through the Regent's mind was to play a prank on him, but he wasn't much in the mood and decided to be straight laced with his training.
"Uzumaki Mugen, I am the Regent. I will be your mentor in genjutsu, though before that I feel as though we should go through the tedium of introductions and getting to know each other. Do you have any personal questions about me that you'd like to ask before I ask you?"
Mugen smirked, he would treat the teacher with respect, but to be totally honest he didn't care about prolix instructions and wastes of time. He simply wanted to get stronger, "Hm.. Teach me something that'll make someone shit them self." Mugen then slowly and swiftly stood up and stared the man in the eyes searching for some sort of sign of a repressed reaction or understanding."Uzumaki Mugen, I am the Regent. I will be your mentor in genjutsu, though before that I feel as though we should go through the tedium of introductions and getting to know each other. Do you have any personal questions about me that you'd like to ask before I ask you?"
"So what's that, about a 3?" The Regent took mental notes as he spoke "And considering your hands on approach and lack of discretion I'll assume you're more the sadist type like my mother."Mugen rolled his eyes, the man portrayed the semblance of absolute knowledge but Mugen wanted to know just how much he knew. "Genjutsu is pretty damn cool but I'm more of a 'hands on person'. If ya catch meh drift.." He patted his sword in an attempt to signal what he was talking about. "That doesn't mean that I'm not willing to learn tho, in fact I literally cannot wait..."
Mugen looked at the man with squinted eyes, he talked with big words. That pissed Mugen off..."Hmm... I guess you have to realize your actually in a Genjutsu to break it." Mugen said, he was used to making mistakes all they did was teach him more about the world."So what's that, about a 3?" The Regent took mental notes as he spoke "And considering your hands on approach and lack of discretion I'll assume you're more the sadist type like my mother."
"Now then, I won't insult your intelligence...well maybe not too much anyway. Before we get into learning any techniques we need to go over some fundamentals. Recognizing and breaking genjutsu, casting genjutsu, and layering genjutsu. Most people are rather stupid and don't understand how to do this effectively so I'm covering the basis as if you're one of those inadequate people.
Now I'm going to ask a pretty obvious question, but you'll be surprised at how many people have gotten it wrong just as I've been surprised. What is the first step in consciously breaking genjutsu?"
