Hey! So looking through your bios I've seen you have already plenty of elemental training. So we won't really be covering the basics of chakra and all that. I know it can be very repetitive. Instead we'll focus purely on Kenjutsu. Tell me what you know about close quarters combat, and in particular Kenjutsu. Be as detailed as you can be, I'll fill in the blanks as needed.Tiashe arrived at the training grounds and looked around to see if his teacher had arrived yet. He had a sword strapped to his back for this specific training session.
Pretty solid response. I'll expand on it. Kenjutsu emphasizes the usage of a sword as an extension of the body. It falls under the category of 'Bukijutsu,' or weapon techniques. It's used by both Samurai, which are in our RP, as well as shinobi. But more commonly by Samurai. When using a sword as a medium for fighting there are many ways to gain slight advantages with it. Some people choose a two handed approach allowing them to gain more raw power and speed, however others choose to dual wield. It can be even combined with Taijutsu to create hand/sword based movements which can strike at an opponent simultaneously.Close quarters combat is basically fighting in short range of the opponent, which can be Taijutsu and Kenjutsu. Kenjutsu is a fighting style which requires the usage of a sword. The sword can be used to cut down the opponent in various ways through which the techniques allow. Some require chakra, and some don't. In particular, Kenjutsu techniques which have elemental combinations with them would definitely require chakra usage.
In most of the elements, there are usually techniques which require the use of a sword with them. If a person does not carry a sword around with them, they can not use these techniques. Kenjutsu users would be vulnerable if they use it against users who are using the elements. This is because Kenjutsu techniques are short ranged, whilst elemental techniques can go up to long range. It is useful though, in battles where elements are not allowed, and only Taijutsu and Kenjutsu are.
"Good work," commented Nagato. From the training rack he obtained a training edge, a blunted wooden sword, and tossed it toward his student. "Our first technique is the Sword Barrage Technique. It is a potent sequence of slashes, followed by your classic slash 'finisher' which will kill your opponent depending on where you strike them. I want you to, with that blunted edge, to perform a sequence of six slashes in detail. Then perform your selected 'finisher.' There is a lot of room in the Sword Barrage technique for creativity and versatility, which I personally like. Give it a shot."All clear sir! ^^
Nice detail.Catching the wooden sword he was provided with, Tiashe studied it in his hands, getting the feel for it. He then listened to what Nagato was saying about the technique he would first learn.
Um, this is my first time performing Kenjutsu, so I don't think I'd be that creative...
Holding the handle of the sword with both of his hands, the right one lower than the left, Tiashe put his right foot in front of his left foot. He then let go of the handle with his left hand, allowing his right hand to guide it ahead of him, and slashing in a motion to the right, at a 45 degree angle upwards. He used this momentum to turn his body so his left hip and leg were now in front and, holding it with both hands again, Tiashe brought the sword down in a downwards vertical motion. He then jumped off his feet and over a pretend enemy, performing a front flip in the air. As his head was lower to the ground during the flip, Tiashe swiped out with his sword, slashing the air vertically. If someone was there, it would have hit them on the left side of their back, from around the armpit to shoulder blade region. As he landed on the floor with with his back to the pretend enemy, he had his left knee touching the floor, with the sword in his right hand. Turning around in that crouched position, Tiashe used his left foot to pivot his body slightly up as he turned with his right arm extended, allowing him to strike the air at knee height horizontally. As he turned more and went slightly more up, he quickly changed the sword from his right to his left hand, and slashed leftwards, performing another horizontal slash, this time at mid back height. Standing fully upright again, Tiashe put his right foot in front with his knee bent, and the left leg behind was straight. The sword was in his right hand, with his arm bent and elbow at a 45 degree angle pointing to the right, so that the sword's tip was facing the floor. Then, pushing off his left foot, Tiashe unbent his right elbow, allowing the sword to come up and perform a vertical slash in the air. To finish off, as the sword fully extended, Tiashe moved the blade and his right arm around so that his the curled fingers on his fist now faced upwards to the left instead of downwards to the right. His right arm could then vertically slash from right to left at head height. If someone was there, their head may have been chopped off, except the wooden stick he was using would have not allowed that.
Sorry for the delay. RNT and papers <_>.Lol, it's cause you said to do it in detail. xD
Ooh, nice. I know some Taijutsu, so I'll get started on this one.
Putting the sword in a case on his back for the time being, Tiashe put pressure on his right foot, slightly pushing him forward as he sprung to perform a punch with his right fist in the air. Stepping forward with his left foot, he then did the same thing, except with his left fist. If an opponent had been there, they would have been knocked back by his punches. He then proceeded to start punching the air at stomach level really fast. Fast and quick punches, consecutively with both hands. Then, reaching over his head to behind him with both hands, Tiashe swung the sword out of the case, allowing it to slash the air vertically from top to bottom in front of him. As the tip faced the floor, he moved the wooden sword up and to the right, slashing the air diagonally from right to left at a downwards angle.
"Jumping in the air will only protect you from a very limited number of earth techniques. There are certain ones that simply just are too large to not be able to reach you height wise. But good thinking there. Here...let's practice with these." Nagato momentarily trailed off as he reached into his pouch retrieving a pair of chakra blades, similar to the ones that Asuma was famed for using. "These are 'chakra' blades. The name is slightly misleading. They are simply an instrument which you infuse chakra into. We'll go over two techniques. One of them is actually a Kenjutsu used at range...which makes it somewhat unique. Try to make a sequence out of these two techniques. Nothing terribly fancy."I see. >_>
Erm, well it requires the user to jump into the air which makes them more vulnerable to attacks, as they most likely won't be able to use earth to protect themselves if they get attacked. Also, the opponent would be able to see the user falling down with the sword at them, so they can easily counter it. Unless it's used in something like the mist technique where they won't be able to see. Or with a clone.
"Excellent work. The next technique is a cool one...maybe one of my favorite conceptually. I'm sure you're familiar with it..." His Rinnegan enabled equal mastery over the elements, giving him an easy method of taking his own blade an infusing it with lightning, holding it before Tiashe. "This is a potent technique creating a Raiton/Kenjutsu combination. Potentially deadly to those you strike your blade becomes able to cut through a much larger range of materials, like steel. Give it a try."Watching as Nagato took out a pair of metal looking things, Tiashe felt he had seen them before somewhere. He remembered when his teacher told him what they were. Taking the chakra blades, he took a couple of steps back and channeled chakra through them. Moving his arms forward, Tiashe then slashed out his right hand in front of him, with the chakra blade. He did the same with the left hand, before bringing both his hands up, and then simultaneously down in a single attack.
Moving on, Tiashe took a fighting stance with his legs bent and arms in front of his body. Performing a few simple and fast punches in the air in front of him at chest height, he finished off by bringing his arms up in a cross like fashion so that his hands were on the opposite sides of the body, and then brought them down in the shape of a cross. Had someone been there, they would have been slashed from shoulders to stomach.
U_UTaking the sword which his teacher held out to him, Tiashe controlled the lightning inside the blade to form into the shape of a Chidori. Lightning could be seen around it, and it made a chirping sound. Looking around, Tiashe couldn't see anything to give it a try one, so he faced his teacher, and brought the sword up before striking it onto his left shoulder.
That's for taking two weeks to reply. Bwahahahahhhhhhhhh
