it should be madara (cuz he's the rival of Hashirama Senjuu, the strongest ninja ever existed), but he's afraid of Itachi so i assume that Itachi was the strongest. . .
other than those two are piece of crap, they're nothing but a puppet which is controlled by madara and then dumped when they're become useless. . .

I think Madara is powerful but nagato is stronger because his Oscular Justsu. Regardless i go with Naruto and Sasuke, their powers are related to the Sage of the six path

Nagato is surely not any1's puppet since Akatsuki was mainly his organization.
Imo only 3 that can be strongest in Akatsuke are Itachi , Madara or Nagato .
All the others are league bellow

that is not true we dont know if naruto is connected to so6p and sasuke is not at all connected. and side point madara would destroy itachi

im saying nagato although i no that if madara knew his secret then the fight would be over very quickly but if he didn't then i think that he could of held his own against him for a good bit.

i would like to say that itachi was stronger and that he only died for sasuke also i have no doubt he could have been the best/strongest if not for that, but...i choose madara because he can control the nine tails and may have more up his sleeves

None of the other Akatsuki members would be able to even physically touch him - none of them are even near fast enough.
If Madara were to fight Nagato, he would just teleport to the real Nagato's location and stab him in the back.
If he were to fight Itachi, he could nullify Itachi's MS techniques with his EMS, as seen when he nullified Sasuke's Amaterasu. Then, he would teleport Itachi away xd
If he were to fight any of the other members, he would have no problem "teleporting" them away.

thats true susanoo would have advantages against madara cause of the sword and shields special abilities by the way susukes ameterasu was really itachis last defence for sasuke to keep madara away
