I just updated my stupid laptop to Windows 7...turns out, there's a shit load of programs that are incompatible with it...wtf.

Should I restore my comp back to Vista or keep Windows 7?

And also, is it good for my comp? I'm thinking of rebooting from my recovery drive.

Don't downgrade to XP, Microsoft has stopped supporting that version for the general public. As to why your programs are not compatible, you probably tried to install the wrong ones. I've been running 7 since the public release canidate and since then they have made huge progress with updating the software and drivers for 7 specifically. but the drivers and software for Vista should work as well.

what programs specifically won't run with 7?

Hmm...GameGuard.des files...
Some more stuff...I also have to redownload office which is a drag...
well its probably not window's fault that the files don't work if they have been saved to vista, you will probably have to either start over.

yeah but that isn't the OS's fault if you have to redownload and install them. 7 is 10 times more stable and better then vista and everything that worked in vista should work in 7
