Hello Gai! That was Kisame you had that conversation with.
I don’t get it. Also, first time I hear this name, Kisame.

EDIT: Seriously!? What was your point? Gai? Kisame? I didn't even know that fish is called Kisame. What the hell, Avani? What is this post all about?
Die!

Oh well...It's a sort of running gag in Naruto that Gai doesn't remember people well. At the start of Shippuden Gai meets this character the big badass villain Akatsuki member Kisame. Kisame of course remembers him but Gai forget him completely. Twice they face off later with Kisame trying to start conversation from last time and Gai was like, "who are you". Kisame didn't like his forgetfulness either. It's funny since his features are quite unique.

Oh! Well, excuse me! But I never read Naruto manga completely. Only the highlights chapters, and they are very very few, so I failed to catch the gag. :|

There is nothing to brag about here. However, the problem isn't me, it's the expression someone make as if he is disappointed just because I forgot his name. It happens a lot with me about people I forgot their names. It may sounds unreasonable to you, but it actually happening.
Okay, so you say.

But that's the problem, it just doesn't make sense. I for one, can't say it's not happening, cause I don't care...but it still doesn't make sense.

Whether classmates, workmates or neighbors, it depends on how much time I've spent with them. I meet some old friends of my college by coincidence, some of them I forgot their names after long years. Same happens with workmates who during a whole year I barely sit with them a couple of minutes.

Those who I forget their names, they kinda take it personal to themselves and they feel being less important to you or what is the phrase. The point is, they get disappointed, unhappy. Why?

How you deal with this kind of situation?
They take it personally because they either known or interacted with you for an extended period of time and you couldn't even be bothered to remember their name. I'd be pissed to. Its only 1 word.

Egocentrism.

Edit:

I am reminded of a quote that is applicable: "When dealing with people let us remember that we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity." - Dale Carnegie.

It is that same egocentrism that that enables us to influence others, get our needs better met, or even become more popular/well-liked. Remembering people's names and faces is a key factor in that.
