ZzzZzz Wow. Hidan and Kakuzu invaded the land of fire and murdered his fellow 12 guardian shinobi not to mention the 2 tails. They got a lead on their location and Asuma's squad ambushed him. Oh now you're deciding who's important? Suspense my ass, what is suspenseful about random people dying? that show sucks. And you're not saying anything valid to change my opinion.

Because this series is still young. Naruto is fodder central, we're used to them. The fact that death can happen at any time reminds us that no one in AoT is safe, except for Eren, Armin and Mikasa, and even then, we're not too sure.

God damn. You make no sense. What difference does it make how old the series is? They both kill off random people. And @HipsterMadara no they won't be revived. Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura aren't exactly safe either. You know, just the closest thing to the SO6P, THE Madara Uchiha, and A tree that will kill them on impact. But they're safe yeah.

The bottom line is, while reading Naruto, NO ONE is worrying about who will die and who will survive. It's gotten to the point where fans are BEGGING for someone other than fodder to be killed or injured critically. And one on the rare occasion it does happen, Kishi says "LOL, JK, Tsunade and Kurama, heal 'em up!"
In Attack on Titan, with every chapter and episode, youre constantly wondering who will die, who will be critically injured and who will survive. That's why it's so popular.

This isn't a matter of sadism. It's a matter of the series staying true to it's nature. Kurenai herself said it, a ninja's life is filled with the danger of death. So why is that this WAR of ninjas isn't giving off the danger of death?
If that's what the series is really like, I would've stopped reading ages ago. It's so much more than that. And you know that too. It's not as the pregnant lady says. There has been so many "wow" moments that didn't necessarily involve death.

It doesn't matter bro it's just all opinion.. it seems you're getting mad though because you go from saying it's decent to saying it sucks.. care to explain why? Sounds like you're biased. You say it's all just action when there episodes where it's mostly talk. IMO Neji's death wasn't really pushing.. even people who are fans of his character like Crystal Chakra or KGB Kakuzu said it was an a**pull or that it wasn't done well. The way the deaths have been handled recently aren't really good.. the last time I felt really sad was when Kushina, minato, jiraiya, asuma, and Itachi died.

That was plot to make the reveal of Eren's power more interesting. I would say it worked even if it was too obvious.

Well dude , she is saying that ppl have to die to for the good of the humanity , at least in that series , that's why the series is so popular , there's some plot and fights , there are some fights better than the rest , but that's just how it is ... i personally think that the series is mediocre and i think that one piece > everyone except dbz ofc.Characters have to die for it to be a good manga? to keep it short, it's fresh, amazingly written, focuses on human motions in a very difficult environment (death/loss/despair/courage/fear), excellent characters (no over the top unrealistic heroism/realistic), excellent plot (keeps coming for more) and the anime ............... god it's good ................ the soundtracks are awesome/really fitting.

It never overtook OP, it never even overtook Naruto or Bleach
Its so popular because of 2 reasons:
1. Animation
2. Blood, gore, suffering, deaths
A lot of ppl are drawn to gore and torcher for some reason
Ppl here are saying there is a lot of suspense in aot because you dont know whos gonna die next but I never felt suspens because aot failed spectacularly at making me care for any of the characters
Aot has good elements and is quite enjoyable as a story but characters just are not a positive about this particular manga

Attack on Titan is special because it focuses more on the weak side of humanity.
In all these other anime/manga's, the main character's are invincible. The threat is often a small group of villains. But in this series, every Titan poses a huge threat.
It's a deep plot to me.
Another thing, the mystery behind the Titans is so addicting, I'm constantly making new theories. xD Oh, and that it's consistent with the powers and abilities it introduces, along with its background.
Overall it's just very well done

Reasons I like it:
1. Animation is 10x better than Naruto
2. Deaths, no plot shield
3. More deaths than Naruto will ever have, remember few hundred thousands people got kicked out just to feed titans
4. I like the plot. Giant people and flying small people

Well the 1st thing you need to discard is AOT & OP are 2 completely different kinds of stories & debating which is better is pointless since it's a matter of opinion.
I think the appeal for AOT is how it isn't catered to kids this is an adult series where characters can die at any time there is no safety the danger is always there. I compare that to the Walking Dead which is same where just about every character is up for grabs.
& then there is the sense of a mystery/conspiracy people love asking why/how/when. & it it's hart it is a coming of age storyline which is the only thing similar with a OP or a Naruto or the other million stories out there about coming of age. & the reason why there are a million is because people like seeing a character's grow into greatness.
But the biggest reason AOT has exploded is because of the Anime. The animation is great the OST is perfect & add that with the great story you have a giant hit.
It's kind of like The Walking Dead again. The Walking Dead comic was huge but the TV show exploded it into the main stream & the story was able to reach people that never would have none about it if not for the show.
If you don't get it then you just don't get it & you probably never will & that's OK because not every story is for everyone.
