First of all this is not a thread to compare the Hyuga clan and the Uchiha's. I'm simply going to analyse the two dojutsu's.
Offence
Sharingan
- Copy almost any ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu and use them when ever you want
- Can cast strong genjutsu on other shinobi's
- Can cast strong genjutsu on tailed beast and summons
Byakugan
- Non, The Hyuga clan made jutsu's that they can because they have the Byakugan. But the eye its self can't be used as offence. Ao has the byakugan but he cant use gentle fist. Labeling gentel fist as a byakugan ability is like saying chidori as a sharingan ability.
If it comes to offence, Sharingan wins.
Defense
Sharingan
- Can see chakra flow and chakra colour.
- Allows the user to see the image of an attacker's next move from the slightest muscle tension in their body.
Byakugan
- Gives the user a near 360º field of vision
- You can see through solid objects
- The wielder is granted an automatic 50 metre field of vision around themselves which can then be extended at their discretion.
- You can see chakra, chakra flow, the chakra circulation system inside the body with great detail as well as the colour of chakra.
-Higher level of perception and clarity than the Sharingan
The Byakugan sees more than the Sharingan, Byakugan wins defense match up.

Byakugan
- None whats so ever
Clearly sharingan wins this match up and thus is overall better dojutsu. A non Hyuga shinobi with the byakugan like Ao is and stays flodder. While non Uchiha with the sharingan like Kakashi and Danzo are powerful. That alone says alot.
