Yes he did change to base eye. you are forgetting that the eye color is reversed for edo.
That is a base eye for an edo. So Sasuke is changing to a base eye which is his rinnegan.

That's not the base eye of an Edo Tensei, but of someone who lost his eyelight.

Its both, he lost his eyesight as well, hence he lost his tomoe, hence he lost his sharingan. It semantics. Obviously sasuke isn't losing eyesight by doing his technique, so he wouldn't go blind. He wouldn't get a blind eye, and instead his tomoe are visual representation of the uses left.

You convientely ingonored my explanation about his tomoe though. Why don't you try arguing concrete points and not semantics that has nothing to do with whether or not this is what is happening.

Not really. He can't activate the Sharingan because the eye is sealed. The Tomoe, the whole Sharingan itself is just a mirror that reflects
the special chakra of the brain.

Why do people like you not read any of the above posts. Read my post above that explains this. This is NOT a drawing error.

As I said before, it's no proof. Nothing can be definitively proven until Kishi writes it into the manga. Drawing errors just makes the most sense right now.

Because your explanation is invalid and therefore also irrelevant, sorry.

Prove:

Six Tomoe right before the usage

And six shortly after

Ergo: mostly an drawing error, because his eye has originally nine Tomoe.

Not good prove. the sharingan are knwon to shift around. Secondly thats as he is using the jutsu. The rules aren't explained. Why do you assume drawing error for every single panel. That is ridiculous.

Edit I also want to point out this.
You must be registered for see images
We see 5 tomoe not even a full set, yet from this scan we know there are 9.
You must be registered for see images
We see that more rings have sets. The above images you showed never show the full ring. this image does and we see 6 after one usage.
You must be registered for see images

Me second point is debatable about it being used, but the first is not.

But it isn't a sharingan is it? And even if it were spinning around or shifting, that shouldn't change the number of tomoe. Not if he's losing them as he uses his ability.

It's also a little ridiculous that people are reading so deeply into this whole disappearing tomoe business. Especially when Kishi isn't drawing anyone's attention to it.

Because Kishi made a lot errors regarding the Sharingan and Rinnegan. The best example is chapter 619. Sasuke was shown with his usual Mangekyō and everyone thought at first he could change between his MS and eMS, but that's just wrong. The Tankōbon fixed these error.

He is and he isn't. he is being ambiguous so that we are left in suspnse as to what happened. this is why madara never explained what he thought. but at the same time, he has focused directly on Sasukes eye in panels to show that it is his eye and funnily enough tomoe are missing in these. I don't think he could bring anymore attention to it without directly stating it. Time will tell, who knows he might not even explain the tomoe, but hopefully the jutsu.

He has always highlighted Sasuke's eyes in fight scenes and non fight scenes. I can see how you're drawing your conclusions and I respect them, but I respectfully disagree. We'll see though. I like your sig.

Not that we have seen. BUT, izanami, a related justu does. Itachis eye turns back to his base eye and he loses his sharingan in it. This is the same but sasuke is reverting to his base eye as the rinnegan now, not a regular eye. Similar to how Madaras real eyes never go back to a regular eye. But I don't think it is izanagi, it is just similar in effect because izanagi and this new justu are both related to the yin creation of all things which parallels to Naruto's yang creation of all things that naruto used on guy too keep him alive.

Well we have seen how the eye closes several times in Sasukes fight vs Danzo and also when Obito used izanagi vs Konan.

It is true, that the eye reverts to its original for the Obito and Itachi cases, however, that is no proof. Those cases are with the use of MS, so there is no 3 tomoe to lose... The thing is, it cannot explain why Sasuke loses 3 tomoes at once.

Thanks. And yeah it isn't solid, nothing ever is with Narutobase, even if Kishi says it himself lol. But we shall see hopefully.

What would really suck is if the number of tomoes continues to remain inconsistent and he never explains it.

lets see the logic here...give sasuke a new power to use against the final villain yet make it only usable 3-4 times THEN MAKE IT TO WERE IT HAS TO BE RECHARGED(tomoe) logic fail!!!!!!!

outta the 3 times its been used maybe once has it been justified and that is when madara came after sasuke's eye other than that why waste the supposed limited times the eye can be used?

i think it was drawing mistakes or or why not simply kill madara with the sword right there and then?

Tankōbon 70 will explain it though. At that time I will make a thread to clear things up. :D

I don't think Sasuke was meant to be shown with 9 tomoe, similar to how the Juubi we saw in the present only had a 6 tomoe eye. The drawing inconsistency with the eye is to much, one page he has 6 tomoe, the next he has no tomoe, then 6 tomoe again on the next page.
