I kinda get what ur saying but as gaara fanboy I have to disagree gaara is powerful as hell he's not as powerful as naruto and can come in a tie with current sasuke but he only was given one ability

Naruto and sasuke just keep getting ability after ability and they never hone the abilities tht they get cuz they're too busy getting new ones gaara is the most creative (Save deidara and sai) in anime because of all the shit he can do with one ability

Point is if they stop giving these 2 characters so many abilities at once maybe they would be able to hone them

I have to disagree. Gaara first appeared in the series with so many abilities that he easily overwhelmed pretty much everybody. Additionally, Gaara has received his fair share of upgrades in the series, too. Finally, his sand is just so versatile that it can hardly be said that Gaara has "one ability". He can use it to do pretty much everything that Naruto and Sasuke's different abilities can.
1. His sand is more than just normal sand. It acts on its own. Much like Susanoo and Kurama's chakra, Gaara's sand can actively defend and attack without Gaara needing to consciously think about it. His defenses are probably on par with the basic Susanoo and Kyubi chakra cloak. It is probably better than both of these, however, since he doesn't have to actually summon his defenses.
2. Gaara's third eye technique can be used for scouting, recon, and any number of other tasks.
3. Sand Armor made Gaara nearly invincible. He could defend himself almost completely from any attack, and even if he gets injured, he could use the armor to make it seem like he is uninjured.
4. Gaara can use his sand to sense things in the area. This isn't as specialized as the Sharingan or Naruto's various sensing modes, but it could sense Muu.
5. Gaara had the Shukaku. He couldn't really control it, but imagine if he gets a tamed Shukaku back after the war.
6. Gaara can always make more sand. If you think about it, Gaara was really the first character to demonstrate the ability to completely alter the landscape by turning a forest meadow into a desert with bone trees.
7. Gaara now has gold. This makes his defensive and offensive capabilities that much more formidable. He's lost his weakness to water and oils. This probably means that Gaara can also use Magnet Release and Iron Sand, too, since controlling gold dust is just a more specialized version of these techniques.
