Sometime after the events of the Buu Saga and before the events of Battle of Gods, Pilaf and his crew wished for youth through the Dragon Balls that turned them into the kids that they are now. It was even highlighted in a conversation during the movie.

"Mai: Earlier, when we were finally about to get Shenlong to grant our wish, Pilaf-sama, you said "Make us young again!"
Pilaf: Y-Yeah, but... ...there's no point in dominating the world when we're old, if we're going to drop dead right away.
Mai: Maybe so, but we're too young like this!
Shū: It was a relief for me. My life has been greatly extended, in dog years."

It was essentially for the purpose (probably directly from Toriyama himself) of retconning them getting old in the non-canon Dragon Ball GT.

Did any of you even look at the images I posted in the first post -_- it's from the mangaka of dbs it shows pilaf used the balls at the same time as the z fighters fought 17 and 18 and got the sih seconds before piccolo's death in runks timeline. In outer timeline it'd be during the 3 year training period for the androids.
