Why isn't Kakashi S-class ninja?

This is correct. The only reason he wasnt while Tsunade was wrinkled and on the floor was because Danzo cheated him out of it, and flat out said No, pick me. Technically he is an elite jonin, but he is clearly kage-level. U_U
That is not a class, Classes are Student, Genin, Chunin, Jonin, Kage. Sennin are giving to the most talented and usually kage level ninjas, S rank is a rank given to criminals who are as strong as if not stronger than jonin but are USUALLY not as strong as Hokage for example i think the Orochimaru could have been considered an S rank ninja and he was Kage Level (sarutobi said he was FTW) but like someone rior said Criminals like Hidan and Zabuza were S ranked ninja but i doubt anyone would say that they are Kage level. Since that is cleared. How do you guys think Kakashi is Kage leveled ninja? He is curently the only person in the village besides Guy that could be nominated for kage not becuase of power but becuase of experience and knowledge. Usually when someone thinks of a KAge level ninja they think of an Extremely Strong Ninja. If i were to compare kakashi to any other Hoakge i would rate him the Weakest even to danzo who proved to be pretty strong during his fight with sasuke. But i would say that he has about as much experience in combat as sarutobi, the fourth , and tsunade. Kakashi when compared to the other available ninjas who could possibly be put into kage position is reletively strong but when compared to other hokage he is pretty weak. Hashirama was the creator of the Leaf and rival to Madara (who we can see is an extremely strong ninja, and defeated him), Tobirama was the creator of Edo and had S/T movement techniques along with the ability to you High level water techniques with only the water available in the air, Sarutobi was as stated by Jariya the most talented of the Hokage during his reign and was called "The Professor", i believed that most of the other villages had great respect for him and he didnt have any special powers of abilities besides his genious (1st could use wood, 2nd could use S/T and edo, 4th had S/T and sealing, 5th is a master in medial ninjustus and healing), 4th hokage was able to go just about anywere he wanted with the use of seals and shuriken and was also able to take the nine tail fox solo for a little while and then sealed it, Tusnade is one of the sannin a master in medical ninjustu and is well respected by other villages, Danzou (al though not a hokage) was an evil villan who took the dna of one family and the eyes of anoher family to use one of the strongest and hardest genjutsu ever. While Kakashi is strong i dont think he would fair well when compared to OTHER hokage, but whne ptited against peers he is a shining star, he is still young tho so give him a couple more years and he'll be able to trounse the other hokage.

Yes... Probably lower Kage level. We just act like he isn't because he is the weakest in Akatsuki. Akatsuki is fairly picky about who they have in their ranks...
Kakashi is Kage level, but not on the extreme. I doubt he could go up against any Kage except Mei and Gaara (Chidori pierces through that sand pretty easily, but then again Gaara can uplift his feet much quicker than he could).
There is NO such thing as an actual rank called S-Rank. It is a TITLE, just as SANNIN is. There is no rank called Sannin.

Many powerful ninja's have monikers or statuses to go with them. There is "Copy Ninja Kakashi" Zabuza is the "Demon of the Mist". Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru are the "Legendary Sannin". Hanzo is "Hanzo of the Salamander". Minato was the "Yellow Flash". Kushina was the "Bloody Habanero" (what a name...).
And to whoever asked what rank Naruto should be given- It does not matter. For every feat Naruto does, such as defeating Pain and Kakuzu, he gains acclaim in the Shinobi world. It matters not what his rank is. Obviously, if you are a known Sage who defeated the leader of Akatsuki, and then gained control of the Kyuubi's power, being a Genin is just a word. Whoever said Naruto should be put above Kage is stupid. WHEN has their EVER been a rank above Kage? I mean do you actually think that Sannin is a rank? San is the number three. Nin is ninja. Put it together= Three Ninja. Naruto cannot go above Kage, and it would be pointless for him to have a rank above that unless all villages unify and he's the supreme leader.

It's not a rank but a title given to rogue ninjas such as the Akatsuki organization who are all very powerful and easily Kage level.
With that being said if Kakashi were to betray the village he would be considered S-Rank Missing Nin and so would Guy and Yamato.

Kakashi isn't a S-class ninja, bacause only strong enough and dangerous missin nin like akatsuki, who desert, and/or betray their village are considered as such.
S-class are mission for kage and jounin level. So is Kakashi would become a traitor to konoha, he would be S-class without doubt.
Oh, and I've read some post of people saying that Kakashi isn't kage level, to those ignorants who don't know nothing, Kakashi IS KAGE LEVEL, he has been considered 2 times, the fisrt one he didd't became because they selected one of the elders, Danzo, and the secon time, Tsunade recovered, if not, Kakashi would have been Hokage a long time ago.

Kakashi is too Weak to be a S-class Ninja. He easily becomes tired in a Fight. His moves are too Slow & Soft. He loses to often, & would die without his team mates. S-class Ninjas are Out of This World Strong. Ninjas like Madara, Pain & Killer Bee are considered to be S-class. They are not Jounin but Elite Fighters in the Naruto World. Gods of War.
I think the reason why he isn't a S rank ninja is because of his low level of Chraka which means he has to be careful when he uses his big attacks like lighting blade or his MS jujtu because of the large amount of chraka it drains out of him .If he had more chraka he would be a s rank shinobi.

Kakashi fans are delusional to even think that he is at kage level. There was no one available for the job thats why he was elected as hokage and the other kages felt comfortable with him. But in overall kakashi cannot even beat tsunade far less for any other kage. To me when you choose a kage for a village that person must be able to compete with the other kages or even be at par with them. Tsunade maybe the weakest hokage but I still believe that she can battle with any of the kages and give it her best without dieing in 15mins like kakashi lol. Tsunade would loose majority of her matches against the other kages but she would be able to endure alot of blows and jutsu's and still be able to get back on her feet unlike kakashi. Man again I would say this kakashi is bad-ass and he has lots of potential in the future he is only 30yrs old so I wont loose credit in him but ranking him as kage level now is pushing it. He has a long way to go and he still needs to develop some awesome skills and I cant wait for that since I am a kakashi fan
