Why is polygamy illegal???

Recently in the U.S.A gay marriage was made legal, but polygamy is not. The whole battle that the constitution grants individuals the right to pursue happiness is the main reason gay marriage was legalized. If our nation is truly a nation of fairness and truly believes that LOVE WINS than sooner or later polygamy should be LEGAL.

EXAMPLE: A man and 2 woman who love the man all consent to a marriage. The man treats both woman equally, loves both equally. And can't think of live without either of them with him. While the two woman are close FREINDS who understand the situation, love the man and agree to a three way marriage. It's three adults who all KNOW what they are doing and want it done. IS THIS WORSE THAN HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE?? I THINK NOT AND IS UNFAIR.


Should polygamy become legal now that gay marriage has become legal??? Do you think it's unfair for couples who practice polygamy to be UNALLOWED to marry???

Polygamy marriage means you need to be fair with both wives, by equally treating them with time, respect but also financially providing them. Don't marry multiple wives if you can't provide them all those means. But given the extent of liberalism in the West, don't be surprised with human-animal marriage, paedophilia marriage etc.

I see that you're just trying to point out the hypocrisy in the U.S but people are pushing for such stupid stuff. They're complaining that they can't walk around nude, rape people (University students), complaining about not being able to be knocked up and then getting rid of the baby the next day, not learning how to have **** in ***-ed and saying shit like they're being oppressed. Besides, imagine fights over property after divorce, imagine the legalities involved, not to mention the original concept of marriage was s binding of two people in unity, sure it used to only be between different ***, but even now it's just a bond between two people.

If their was something where a man could be with multiple woman or vice versa, it isn't anything close to marriage. No part of polygamy relates to marriage.

So there no valid reason to legalize 3 way marriage, because that isn't marriage. Again, you could say same *** marriage has strayed from its origins, but only in an insignificant way. It is still between two people.

Says who? Who has the right to decide whether or not marriage is someone's thing. The government? People can have a happy successful polygamous marriage. Monogamous marriage as of now in the USA is practically a gamble nowadays anyway.

They are serious. Gay marriage does nothing for society as a whole but make a small minority group of people "happy". I too support it but supporting something on that single basis is horribly stupid.

That's why marriage doesn't work a lot of the time! People dont want to be with one person, they want multiple, so why don't they just admit they are polygamous? Again thats horrible logic. Marriage in western society stems from Judaic law in which it was meant a monogamous relationship between man and woman. Your logic says gays should not look for a legal binding meant for 2 different gendered heterosexual people. If it were simple then you would not be confused.

What you defined isnt the whole idea of marriage. That is the partial idea of Marriage. Marriage, both monogamous and polygamous, has been happening for thousands of years in all kinds of cultures. That is the whole idea.
