Why is polygamy illegal???

Objectively speaking...it seems like a terrible idea considering divorce rate is so high and we only have single spouse marriages. But, beyond being unpopular and unwise on the individual level, i can't see why it shouldn't be legal...

Recently in the U.S.A gay marriage was made legal, but polygamy is not. The whole battle that the constitution grants individuals the right to pursue happiness is the main reason gay marriage was legalized. If our nation is truly a nation of fairness and truly believes that LOVE WINS than sooner or later polygamy should be LEGAL.

EXAMPLE: A man and 2 woman who love the man all consent to a marriage. The man treats both woman equally, loves both equally. And can't think of live without either of them with him. While the two woman are close FREINDS who understand the situation, love the man and agree to a three way marriage. It's three adults who all KNOW what they are doing and want it done. IS THIS WORSE THAN HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE?? I THINK NOT AND IS UNFAIR.


Should polygamy become legal now that gay marriage has become legal??? Do you think it's unfair for couples who practice polygamy to be UNALLOWED to marry???

the reason is simple.

the current law on the matter makes it illegal do to the fact that the law is based on christian teachings.
