I've seen people state he can best Hebi Sasuke. Like, what?

Byakugon is lame. 360 degree vision, yippe-skip. Most shinobi are already aware of their surroundings.

Air Palm is lame. Most if not all mediocre shinobi can dodge it.

64 Palms is kinda cool. Too bad it will never hit any of the mediocre characters.

Rotation is lame. It only lasts a few seconds and it can't be spammed.

All in all, Neji isn't that impressive; hell, Hyuugas in general arn't impressive.

You forgot the most important thing about all Hyuga and that is Gentle Fist. One hit lose most your jutsu, from there it's a Hyuga picnic. Also Neji is quick enough to hit most of the regular tiered characters at least once in a fight the one's he'd have the most trouble with though are the strongest(obviously he's not supposed to be in their class) like obito(kamui) any sharingan user. That said he'd just need to rely on Sasuke's arrogance and after Sasuke beat him he'd probably wal up to him to taunt Neji then he could get him with a quick gentle fist shot and shut down his Chakra network. Plus to enemies who know nothing about gentle fist which is most everyone from outside of Konoha that would be a devastating tech. to cancel their chakra.

You do realize Naruto beat Neji?
Yes, unfortunately.

I liked the Part 1 power scale much better.

people seem forget the power the Gentle Fist has, a power that Neji introduced to naruto fans..
he can stop you chakra, he can accelerate it, he can slow it down.. with the right touch from his fingers he can leave you pretty much without the use of your *chakra* which is pretty much the key to survival in narutoverse.

Neji did stop Naruto's chakra flow & with the burden of a Curse Seal holding him back.. He pretty much taught himself
the secrets of the Byakugan & Hyuga clans jutsu. If the curse seal disappeared from his forehead he would have been much more powerful.. Neji essentially received a DOWNGRADE as the others received upgrades.

Neji would have accomplished much more if his team performed better
(ten ten was given little to no affection from her creator).
& Neji could have beaten Sasuke that fought Gaara(chunin exams) & Naruto(without Kurama's boost)

Neji soloed Kidoumaru.. he could have easily killed Sasuke in part 1..

The same Sasuke who needed a curse mark enhancer to reach the Sound Four's level, unlike Neji.

So he's not weak. Although Hebi Sasuke > Neji obviously.
need he say more ?

I don't see him being too overrated :|

The poor guy never got his power-up (like, well, the rest of the supporting cast). But yeah, like others said, he was indeed impressive in Part I; not OP (nobody was really OP back then), but quite versatile in combat, with dangerous offense (the whole organ damaging and chakra stopping thing) and a good defense. He had weaknesses, but hey, that's more interesting story-wise than no weakness.

Don't be dumb.

3-tomoe predicts movement. 3 Tomoe Sasuke could predict Naruto with Kurama's chakra, and it's already been shown that Naruto was faster than Neji.

Sasuke reads all of Neji's attacks and chidoris him in the heart.

Slightly off-topic: did you notice that, in Part II, the prediction ability is hardly ever (if ever) mentioned? I find it strange, and characters fighting against Sharingan users seem to not know about it, as well (even though they sometimes know stuff like MS abilities).

Kishi's retconned a lot of stuff including KKG going from Bloodline traits within a clan to elemental jutsu combinations anyone can do if they take the time to learn and have the corresponding chakra natures(excaept Mokuton which still requires Hashi DNA as far as we can tell)

Sharingn was initially said to "copy" an enemies movements but in part 1 Kishi has Zabuza say he figured out the trick to the Sharingan while fighting Kakashi. Zabuza claims the Sharingan works more like Hypnotism and the user manipulates his enemy into doing the jutsu he wants thus giving the illusion of mimicry.

You can see by the look on Kakashi's face during the explanation Zabuza has figured him out. Now I've said this before and even shown them the pages but a lot of people refuse to accept it, despite it being right in front of them written by the author himself and as of this point in time this info has NOT been retconned.

Yes, but what about Sasuke vs. One-Talied Naruto? Besides, Sasuke does mention during his fight with Killer Bee that he "has no trouble seeing his movements with these eyes". I thought copying and predicting were slightly different. Edit: I was talking about this ability:

People lately barely seem to remember about it, especially those who fight against Sharingan users.

Yes it has.

Itachi copied Kabuto's jutsu and Kabuto's eyes were closed.

Retconned.

No he is not overrated.

Believe it or not; there are people who support characters who are not Uchiha, Hashirama, Minato or an Uzumaki. That's just it. He was a strong ninja; he might no be top 30 but he was definetely not a fodder.

Btw, Sharingan is not a magical device which is rendering useless any type of taijutsu attack. Taijutsu is not just speed(contradicty to popular belief); a good amount of skillset and/or a relatively agile fighting style would be more than enough in a taijutsu battle against a sharingan user.

According to Zabuza the Sharingan allows the user to copy body movements. Not Jutsu, think of it like this, Sasuke doesn't have suiton so he cannot "copy" a suiton jutsu(though fanboys say his sharingan would grant him suiton abilities for the jutsu) The Sharingan user copies the movement of his enemies body throwing him into a panic, then uses Genjutsu to "hypnotize"(Zabuza's words) the enemy into doing a jutsu the Sharingan user chooses. In Kakashi's case this would mean he chose for Zabuza to use Water Dragon Jutsu thus further convincing Zabuza Kakashi could copy his jutsu's when according to this explanation, Kakashi already knew Water Dragon Jutsu.
It's debatable since Kishi put the retcon in there.

People tend to believe that raw speed is the only factor in taijutsu; a person needs a certain amount of skillset and experience against a style in order to compete with someone in taijutsu or physical attacks battle. Just because a sharingan user is equal, close to or faster compared to someone in overall speed department; that does not mean "victory" in taijutsu. A direct and linear attack is different than an agile and different mannered (ex: Kimimaro, Neji, etc...) attack performed by an opponent.

What are you talking about it never says their eyes must meet to copy body movement, their eyes need to meet for genjutsu yeah. And what attack did Itachi copy while kabuto's eyes were closed cus I just re-read the fight and didn't see a single one. Can you post up the link.

But - Sasuke isn't even copying Naruto's movements here. He simply sees them beforehand. I see your point about "copying" jutsu, but that isn't what I'm talking about right now. Just predicting the enemy's physical moves is an important factor in a fight, but Part II lacks mentions of it.

FOR EXAMPLE: Fu and Torune fighting Tobi. At some point they actually simply ran towards him trying to trick him or something and then seemed surprised that he "saw through" them. At which point I was like, "Really, Sharingan can predict your movements, you fools". Well, maybe, just maybe, they forgot about it or had no intel, but this isn't the only example. Others might have not failed so hilariously but still, no word of movement prediction. And notice how Sharingan users never brings it up either.

If I'm wrong about this, correct me. And again, I do NOT mean the jutsu-copying, I mean predicting movements only.
