That's true!! So it was one of the "stronger" main branch members, the evidence against the hyuga(save neji) being any use whatsoever is stacking up

Kakashi was a Jounin a 13. His father was just as strong as the Legendary Sannin. His Sensei was the Fourth Hokage. He was the Sensei of the 7th Hokage Naruto and Team 7. He became the 6th Hokage. He helped lead the 4th Great Ninja War. He helped defeat Kaguya and save the world.

Where as AO is basically featless.

Kishi gives the Sharingan all sorts of crazy OP abilties, like being immune to 1/3 of all ninja's in existance, being able to mindrape people in a staring contest, being basically untouchable in close combat, and in Kakashi's case, warping the fabric of space on a whim. X-Ray vision doesn't even compare to that.

But Sharingan vs Byakugan isn't the point of this thread. You said why is Kakashi more renouned than Ao. The reason is that Kakashi is more skilled that Ao, and had a major part in defeating most of the main villains. Ao is just another one of 50,000+ ninja's who got killed in the war, and not even the most important in his group.

I assume the difference was that both had different skill sets. Kakashi was mainly out in the field a lot, mostly for offensive purposes while Ao, a sensor, was used more for support. These differences are more apparent if you pay attention both to the games and to their roles in the war. If Ao was more useful in the frontlines, he would be. But considering his sensory perception was greater compared to Kakashi, he acted as support alongside Inoichi, also known for his clan's abilities.

Surely, having the byakugan means something though.
Take Mito for example, she is featless, but her design and hype along, leads us to believe that she is very capable and powerful.
Byakugou Seal, Ninetails, Master Sealer. Able to control the foxes power.

I dont get Kakashi's feild rep, most of it was as a anbu, discrepancy is like required right.
