[Question] Why is "character bashing" now banned (the new rule)?

Well, I've already voiced my opinion on this and how redundant I find it.
Not trying to promote insults of course, but these insults can appear in any topic and are already covered by pre-existing rules, so yeah.
I'm not in the mood for any debates, you know how I feel about this and how I agree it is resticting and yada yada yada..

I don't want to put the blames on any mod though, that would indeed be unfair, it's all the admins decisions.

Conclusion: I'm with you, up to a point. Insults are bad, the mods should not be blamed for this rule as that would be unfair to them, the new rule in not needed imo.

Character bashing is banned because of the obsessive amount of rules that are broken in said thread and the amount of threads made daily which clutters NB. They do nothing, but spread flames, stir arguments and flood NB. You can say you dislike a character in a post, but do not create threads for the sole purpose of bashing a character or when you say you dislike them, just use the word dislike.

Also, the threads attract trolls, which relates to what I said earlier, but any one with common sense does not want trolls come to an already hot flame.

I'm sure Zise's post covered this and this was un-needed, and if so I apologize.

On topic, like others have said, character bashing leads to flame wars.

I don´t wanna think that mods get "emotional" over certain threads but the new rule has a lot of major positive things going for it.

It´s just pointless to discuss the same matter (specially one that will anger a lot of people) over and over. "Bashing threads" are pointless. Even if someone wants to discuss a particular character with respectful writing and ideas, there will always be members who disrupt the mood and send the thread downhill.
