[Question] Why is "character bashing" now banned (the new rule)?

Im sorry but the reason for the new rule is special pleading, why should "character bashing" threads should be treated as different to any other thread involving controversial topics? Every now and then, someone on this forum starts a thread about religion or something and those sort of threads almost always entail a few individuals resorting to insulting/bashing each other. Insulting/Bashing (formally: ad hominems) and polemic are inseparable, you may as well censor all debate on this forum.

If I go to a multi-faith forum, or any forum dedicated to religion that permits debate, Im going to inevitably run into a lot of insulting and bashing, this is simply an inescapable aspect of debate when it comes to controversial issues in which people are emotionally invested. Should those forums censor and ban all debate on religion? This is a forum for discussing Naruto and the quality/value of Naruto characters is a pertinent topic of discussion, some of us feel that some characters in this manga are of very poor quality and we have a right to express vent our opinions.

Clearly some of the fanboys/fangirls on this forum, some of whom are now mods, are so emotionally invested in these fictional characters that bashing those characters is literally tantamount to insulting them because I cannot see why otherwise this should be different to any other topic of debate which will inescapably involve some insulting and rule breaking.

I have not and will not name any mod in this thread, this is for discussing/debating the new rule. And for people reiterating the reason given, it causes "flamewars" and such, please read my first post. Most controversial topics of discussion will frequently entail so called flamewars, at least in some measure, why is "character bashing" singled out here?

Character bashing leads to flame wars. Obviously lost fanboys will rage when they read a thread of their favorite character being bashed which leads to an ongoing post reply and at the end, no point is made.

character bashing is like the hate threads agains sakura...not debateing anything, just ranting about their hate for the character. Your still free to say itachi soloes all,etc, just not make threads about how itachi sucks etc

Well I would say that every character has a fan, and by bashing one character in particular it is like telling a person their character is worthless, and is demoralizing.

In addition, every character has a role in the story, and by bashing them you are indirectly insulting Kishimoto's work. We get the chapters for free, and we get a story we ourselves may not (and by that I heavily mean would not) ever have come up with. We should instead find a way to appreciate every character for what his or her role happens to be!

Its reason is simple, to avoid flame wars/insults, so on, and so forth.

not guts i just know the truth.....ppl who crave power and athority online do so because they have none in real life .....and telling peole they cant say they dont like someone on a show on a site ment to discuss said show is a erfect examle of that


because they have a site they think they now contorl naruto and how it will be discussed
