Because the mods believed that people who said it were secretly spamming rep, and that by saying it you were announcing that you would give rep for free or something stupid like that.

Word combinations cannot be censored: like + Rep or plus rep and so on. But it's still not allowed and is against the rules now.

Added to the rules that to attempt writing anything like it can be considered rep abuse. Which can result in: Infractions, Reset of reputation points or simply ban from the reputation system. Hopefully people will learn not to do it.

This is the reason that word is censored. Also, this thread has been made many times so there really wasn't a point in making this. You could of gone back like two or three pages in this section and found one or two threads asking this same question. =\

The reason why I added this is because lately the reputation system has been misused enormously. And people are using this the same way as they used the so called "buttering" if anyone remembers that. When I look through the reputation comments of users I see many times groups of people giving rep to just that cycle of same people, simply trying to break the reputation system overall. So yeah we'll try this and see how it works out if it helps or not. So please follow the rules and respect it, or yeah you'll get infracted.

When you say in a thread "That was good, + rep", that would encourage other ppl to give rep aswell, which is considered as rep abuse.

Bypassing the word censoring has always been against the rules.

The new rule seems to have decreased the rep abuse significantly since it was added. It might seem like a stupid or even silly idea for many of you, but it actually does work. So please respect the rules and don't write it. If you want to say that someone have done a good job at anything then you can write at least a sentence about it to give the person some credit instead of writing "+ rep". It's a one word reply and that itself has always been against the rules as spam. To write a sentence or more and add "+ rep" in the end serves no other purpose that to point out that you are giving rep, to other users as the person you give the rep to will notice that anyway.
