Why I think Naruto and Sasuke neither will nor should have a final battle

They shouldn't fight, because, really, them having a final battle would go against the message of the manga, which I forgiveness, and letting to of the past. By fighting Sasuke, Naruto wouldn't prove he was right, he would just reaffirm the cycle of hatred, and everything would happen all over again, just like with Madara and Hashirama. The point of Naruto and Sasuke being reincarnations of Indra and Ashura is that, they could finally do what neither the brothers, nor the other reincarnations ever did. They could end the cycle by reaffirming their bond, the children of Hagoromo, the Senju and the Uchiha, the story of ninja, finally ending with the Senju and the Uchiha, Indra and Ashura, Power and Love, working together to create true peace and understanding. I think that would make for a better ending, and would better fit the series' message.

Yeah, I agree. The "cycle of hatred" is meant to end, or be "solved" rather with Naruto and Sasuke, Indra is being "redeemed".

Yeah, i agree with what you're saying, but nobody said it had to be a fight to the death between enemies. In fact, i'd personally prefer if they fought as friends, and still gave it their all.

Everyone wants to see the final Naruto vs Sasuke, after all. One way or another, i think it will happen.

Yeah, I can accept that, but, I think a straight up brawl would make everything prior to this rather pointless. It'd be like Luke killing Vader in hate and anger, rather than having the restraint to spare and redeem him.

Fair enough, I was mostly protesting the people saying "oh, they'll fight over who's hokage (I think they'll do what Madara and Hashirama should've done and serve as co-hokages)" or they say "oh, they'll fight because Sasuke's ideals are too different (even though the series is about reaching agreements and praises differences)".

Honestly, I view Naruto, often, as I view Avatar, you know? Just as the conflicts in the main series began when two brothers (Indra and Ashura) turned against each other, the main conflict of Avatar began when the Avatar and the Fire Lord went from being best friends to enemies (Roku and Sozin) with the conflict only ending when the Avatar and the Fire Lord were able to work together as friends once more (Aang and Zuko, respectively). Likewise, I believe the conflict in Naruto can only truly end with Indra and Ashura (Naruto and Sasuke) mending their seriously messed up bond.

Still, he'd be a complete sellout if he did, he'd invalidate the message of his own manga, like I said, that'd be like Luke killing Vader, making his journey throughout the OT pointless.

I agree with the op but for different reasons. Kishi would have to nerf Sasuke massively in order for Nardo to last more than one chapter. All Sasuke has to do is trade places with Naruto's kunai/rasengan/rasengan variant and cut his head off. Naruto can't compete at this point and it would be kind of a bummer to see the title character get blitzed by his biggest rival again. It wouldn't be the right way to end the series.

That's not the point, the point is, even if Naruto killed him (pretty sure they're even) it'd invalidate the message the manga has had since day one.

IE: Sasuke wants to wipe everyone out to start a better system anew but naruto defeats and TNJ's him
