Why don't the shinobi all...kill themselves?(Serious Question)

In Narutoverse, there seems to be a afterlife when the people there die.Or it is subly hinted at. An example is that for the Impure World Ressurection jutsu to work, the to-be-revived soul needs to be in the Pure World, Naruto's Version of the afterlife.

Madara aims to put everyone in the world under a huge genjutsu where everything is nice and dandy. But this Genjutsu only applies to the world they are currently in.

So..if Madara happens to be too powerful and it is too late to stop the Great Genjutsu from taking place...killing their current physical selves and going to the Pure World is an option if they still desperately dislike being subjecticated.

Thoughts on this?

For the same reason YOU don't kill yourself. Hell, nobody knows what's in the afterlife, not even the Naruto characters. Obviously they're scared of dying.

But on earth , we do not have relistic evidence of the afterlife. In the NarutoVerse..there is. I was mentioning this as a last resort and if they really will not be able to stop it in time.

I mean there is a WHOLE NEW WORLD waiting for them where their old friends/family and parents have gone.

now i'v seen it all, accepting defeat and choosing the "afterlife" is not the point of this show + they are still fighting.

People logically do not want to die when they have things in this world that they still want. Friends,Family etcetera. However, Madara is threatening to take that ALL from them.

If it was ever too late to stop the genjutsu..they would have already lost everything.

To me, it seems more appealing to move on to a whole new world where everybody you know is there , having a fresh start and being able to make your own choices and your consiousness is not tampered with instead of being stuck in a genjutsu on earth forever =/

I dont kill myself beacause the IS NO AFTERLIFE, this is not a manga, this is real life. But in the manga there is, so why not kill your self indeed, Thread creator has a good point.

How do you know there is no afterlife? You don't. For the same reason you don't want to die, the Naruto characters don't want neither. Also, what afterlife is there in the Manga? Nagato said clearly when he met Naruto again, that because of death "it's like just one bit of time passed" which means that eternal darkness that you had before being born is after death.

But there is a possibility that this is just a effect of transition from one reality to the other. Just compare this with lucid dreaming for example. I am maneuvering in a entire world.But when i wake up..it stills feel like a instant has passed.

There is also a scene in the manga with kakashi talking to his father during the brief period he was dead. A plot hole maybe ? :shrug:

I agree with your points about survival instict and contradicting represented themes in the manga..but still to me it stills seems like a possibility that could happen at this point of writing.

That's what I'm saying. Nobody really knows how the afterlife is in reality, or in the Narutoverse. Everyone fears the unknown, it's normal.

Good point you raised. It is indeed natural to fear the unknown.But i cannot help but think and feel that the characters can just pop around any currently edo tensei hokages and just ask them.=/

This just raised another thought..technically Naruto and Sasuke can just go die..and get revived via edo tensei from a reliable guy like the 2nd Hokage. They can get their free will back from the edo tensei just by asking the 2nd to tell them the secret handsigns.

The only disadvantage is that they cannot be a jinchuriki.
