Thats why theres a theory that kaidou killed the previous owner of law's df which would make sense that he will be one of the ways to kill him with the help of luffy and give him the honorable way to die

1: He's thousand beast Kaido. Maybe he has a reflexive fish transformation that gives him gills, but at the same time weakens him (since it is known that DF powers still work underwater).

2: He can hold his breath forever.

I can assure you that Kaido has attempted drowning in all of years of invincibility and torture haha. But the below is also possible
