Why does Sakura have a fanbase?

Why does one of the main characters have a fanbase? Weird question, cause I daresay all main characters in all fandoms tend to have fanbases. By the way, I've heard that Sakura is really loved by Japanese fans.

I myself am okay with her, I just wish she moved on from Sasuke :| Not hating Sasuke, either, it's just that this "love" seems way too unrealistic by now.

Well, that's the Internet's definition of feminism they're talking about here. You know, that "We want equal rights but also special treatment" sort of thing.

Outside of japanese, she's nothing.
She's still more popular than most obscure characters from obscure media. Like a said, there should be no surprise that a character presented as "main" would have many fans. Or haters. In other word, people who are not indifferent about her. And the same thing happens in any fandom that is sufficiently large, I didn't mean Naruto specifically.
