Why does Orochimaru save his Severed Hand with the Akatsuki Ring on it?

I've been thinking about this, since Pein is now dead.

Orochimaru is keeping not only the ring, but the hand its on. I am thinking that like a summoning jutsu, the users hand which made the contract, is needed along with the ring, in order to perform the jutsu...

Also. When Tobi asked to be let into Akatsuki... Zetzu said it was NOT that simple... So there must be some sort of issue with the number or rings, who possesses them, and whom the original contract was made with...

If this is the case... it is possible to argue... that by eliminating members of Akatsuki that made the original contract... Madara could be consolidating power.... Sort of like the idea that the last man alive, gets the treasure inside the box.

Also... Look at the other dead Akatsuki members...

Deidra's arm with hand and ring finger... was what Zezu and Tobi were after.... not his body...

Itachi's whole body was taken...

Sasori's ring... and "true form" were taken...

I am wondering about Hidan, and Kazuko....?



I am looking to hear peoples' thoughts on all of this... ?

Maybe it's the memories. There's gotta be something behind them as their are only 10 rings and 10 fingers on the the statue.
Ooh, this brings something off-topic to mind. Does zetsu know that tobi is madara and possibly the one pulling the strings...Coz if he is, then why would tobi still act like a goof with him.

Hidan and kakuzu...i reckon konoha may have gotten their hands on kakuzu's. No sure about hidan, idk if zetsu would have gotten it. And sasuke and co. didn't get any rings.

I think he said one time..(I'm not sure when it happened) that he can't be replaced because he still has the ring....that's why they went with 9 members instead of 10

i think it was explained one time earlier in the manga
like that each one wears the ring on a different finger
and there was like a symbol for each one which pein explained

i believe the ring was meant for something to do with the bijuu extraction

Is it the ring? Or the Hand + Ring .... like in a summoning jutsu? Technically, if Naruto's right hand gets cut off.... he shouldn't be able to summon frogs anymore... So I am thinking along those lines...

Zetzu said to Tobi.... "We can't just let you into Akatsuki, its not that simple" and then the imfamous Tobi line... "Why not? Tobi's a good boy"

Why can't they let Tobi in... if they already have recovered some of the rings? Tobi had one is his hands!!!

And... if the hands are important... then we will for sure see Madara/Zetzu/Sasuke try and recover Hidan, and Kakuzo, and Nagato/Yahiko's body...
