Why does Obito need/want Sasuke?

Obito calls Naruto a pawn to be used to stimulate Sasuke. Do you think that Obito meant that he wants Sasuke's strength to grow because Sasuke himself wants to keep up with Naruto?

he was using him to get revenge on the hidden leaf and to just be a general distraction. At the moment i do not think he has even given sasuke a second thought more focused on completing his plan

I guess he needed someone to do some work before he started the war. I mean except Zetsu and Obito, every Akatsuki member died. Kabuto was an unexpected help, just imagine only Obito and Zetsu vs whole Shinobi world. Maybe he planned to use Sasukes hatred against the Konoha Ninjas.

100% Plausible. I forget sometimes that Kabuto was unexpected. The strange thing is that he never sent Sasuke into the war. Even though he had Kabuto's edos maximal force would still be preferred. If Sasuke's purpose was to be a foot soldier Obito would've sent him into battle.

i don't think that is what was meant i think what he meant is that he needs more pawns since konan and nagato are both gone

The thing about syncing with Gedo Mazo is that Obito can do it, and Gedo Mazo is already the Juubi.
