He became a puppet to not feel human pain since that was what he was going thru when his parents died. He wanted to be immortal. Isn't that every kids dream, to become immortal?

I think the real true reason Sasori turned himself into a puppet was because he wanted to escape from his emotions.

Sasori lost his parents at a very young ago. [In the anime] it showed a scene where Sasori was with Chiyo and they saw a boy trip and fall. He was crying but then his parents came and picked him up. I'm not sure if this was in the manga but regardless, it showed Sasori watching with sad eyes. The first puppets he made were of his parents which show how much he wanted to them back.

Some point in time he left the village and joined Akatsuki, but nobody becomes evil without some reason. I think he left because he grew angry inside and some where down the line he decided to turn himself into a puppet because he wanted to escape his feelings.

Even in the manga, he let himself get killed by Chiyo. Chiyo states that Sasori saw that last attack but didn't move out of the way. Probably because they were his mother and father puppets and he hesitated at the sudden sight of them.

As an artist he believed that art was beauty left for all eternity.Turning his self into a puppet should be a huge artistic accomplishment for him.Plus his new body gave him a degree of immortality and helped him in battle with all the weapons that were instaled to it.
I agree with this.
